I'll have you know, David, I won't have you speak of WoOz in that fashion!

Never mind Petty, it can only have been accidental on your part. {{'ring' hee hee hee}}}

I hate to say this but I actually DID dream of Petty last night. I dreamt we had a forumshire reunion- Mrs Figg
I am horrified and require explicit details. What exactly do you mean? RE-union? What happens to Forumshire? Why do we not remain unionated?!!!

Re: Critics review 'An Unexpected Journey'
I've grown to loathe people who talk about "leadership" too much, especially if they are under the impression that everyone could or should be "leaders".
Re: Critics review 'An Unexpected Journey'
YUP I agree on both points. I also hate those posters, yuck.

Re: Critics review 'An Unexpected Journey'
I saw the movie - just got home...
Umm.. I must have mellowed but I liked it better than the first time I saw Fellowship. Which is something to say as I grew to dislike Fellowship more every time I watched it!
So what's it from me? - except for a couple of things that made me squirm - I liked it!
I'm even hoping an Extended Cut will fix the jolty bits... Rivendell was too short and seemed truncated, and the ending was kinda abrupt... but mostly I liked it... Especially the earlier parts with the dwarves at Bag End!

Re: Critics review 'An Unexpected Journey'
Try heading to the skydrive for the purist cut and see if you like it even more with just the Tolkien in it.

Re: Critics review 'An Unexpected Journey'
If only I knew how Petty! If only.... You see, no one has ever told me how.... as far as I can remember anyhow....
I still wince when I think of the promse in having Arwen replace Glorfindel and the earliest scenes with her that were such travesties!
Must say, I really liked all the Bag End stuff. Probably too much CGI later, but tolerable - if one holds ones breath and says to oneself: "Breathe! Breathe!"
Why did the dwarves drop their swords only to be put on a spit by the trolls? Up to then I was feeling pretty damn good about the movie! Otherwise the troll scene seemed pretty good.
I even liked Radagast and his rabbits. Yep. I've said it!

And Azog? And the ridiculous Stone Giants scene?- and the computer game goblin town? And everyone can fall a mile or get crushed but not hurt cartoon physics? And Bilbo fighting and killing things?

Re: Critics review 'An Unexpected Journey'
Gollum pulling that goblin away by the legs --- and braining him with a rock on his island.. gruesome... gruesomely good I think... And kind of consistent with the book. Gollum suspected he lost it when he throttled that horrid little goblin squeaker... The Ring was handled quite well... consistent with the later movies but still not overdone... Brownie points there surely?
