What I'm hoping for on the Hobbit EE's is some different footage that will give Petty more to work with. PJ has shown that he often likes to shoot the same scene 3 or 4 ways to see how it works, he often leaves half-finished scenes on the cutting room floor (Scouring) and he will also have more time to work on some of the roughest of the CGI.

I'm guessing there are people on the TH team who have at least read the reviews and Cracked parody, and probably many of the fan sites (BTW how many hits do we get from NZ? Razz ) so they know what everybody thinks needs more work. It seems like it would be good business for them to try to fine tune the EE's for us core fans.

Honestly, I hadn't looked on Amazon since I hadn't seriously thought about buying the TEs for a couple of years. If it's that cheap though I might just tack it on to my next purchase. Very Happy

I'm not expecting any useful footage, I just want the damn appendices where the film-makers explained why they bloody well did things the way they did. It helped me become more accepting of the LoTR modifications (except for Denethor which they never mentioned Mad ) simply to know there was some thinking process going one as they mangled this or that.

"There are some who would not think it wise",

I dont think theres some deep philosophical reason, but I do think there is a 10 ton fire breathing death monster who will eat you after he has fried you, so maybe thats why Elrond thinks its not wise, just sayin. Laughing

But they're all saying it like it's some deep thing, like the rest of the folks of middle earth have some stake in it. It's clear nobody's concerned about the safety of the dwarves - Thorin didn't make the secretive exit from Rivendell because he was afraid the elves were trying to protect him...

And when Elrond said the phrase he clearly wasn't implying it takes the wisdom of Galadriel to see that dragons are dangerous. No, the implication was that the dwarvish quest was subversive in some way. A dozen dwarves being eaten by a dragon doesn't cut it.

Im wondering if its not PJs inventiveness to cast suspicion that theres an evil about,(sauron) & to link TH with LOTRs ? In the book Elrond is NOT unfriendly with the dwarves, in fact he seems quite helpful, In the back of his mind he doesnt like the fact dwarves have a love of gold etc but hes aware Dragons are pretty mean creatures & easily able to destroy at will. Is Elrond thinking a handful of Dwarves can overthrow a fiery beast ? Probably feels better knowing Gandalfs with them,

Or he'd just eat them, burp, and go back to sleep. Shrugging

Honestly though, if that was their motivation I'd be okay with it, but I wish the movie had told us instead of making the audience guess.
