Re: Star Wars
put it in 'youtube' brackets.
So the original star wars was a mess fixed in editing? Wow, I thought he had just managed to get it right like American Graffiti because he was thinking about the audience, not his inflated sense of how great his ideas are. That came after Star Wars was a success and ruined him.
I'm really curious now to learn more about this original script before editing. Star Wars worked so well (my generation always refers to 'a New Hope' as 'Star Wars') I always thought of it as born fresh and perfect, even though I know there's a whole slew of mutations it went through.

The quick reply doesn't have the youtube option, and it only takes like 5 seconds to type something....unless you're a modern teenager who types everything with your thumbs.

Yeah, same here. Norc's way is good too, though.
Re: Star Wars
you guys are weird.. I like my way, mostly because i always write youtube wrong (now that i was going to show, it didn't work, but i write like toy-something) also writing [youtube] twice means i have to use both hands, and well.. i usually like siting at the computer only using one. resting my head or eating or something with the other yepp. i am a lazy shit.
Re: Star Wars
Like I said, you type with your thumbs or something. I sit primly with straight back and 'address' the keyboard with both hands. Means I can actually type faster than a toadstool.

Re: Star Wars
This is quite old, but somehow I only just saw it for the first time, and it's amazing.
Re: Star Wars
This could have gone in games but hey- me beating the Empire (just!) in the best SW game ever made (well a MAME emulation of the original arcade board at any rate)- dont let its looks deceive- its pure addiction- and a lot bloody harder than I remember it, this was only wave 3. I used to be able to get into double figures.

Re: Star Wars
That background music is something else.
It does look like a pretty fun game, but is it really only two minutes long? I guess if it was originally an arcade game...

Re: Star Wars
No, no, once you destroy the Death Star it just loops- you go back to shooting tie fighters and blowing up the Death Star again- except every time you do it it gets tougher and tougher; more tie fighters, more enemy fire, more things to dodge in the trench.
And the sound was mind blowing in its day- actual samples from the film. Cutting edge stuff you know.

Re: Star Wars
Yea, like I said I've played that before and it is frustrating. I have it on the gamecube.

Re: Star Wars
The Gamecube version isnt quite there- but for that matter nor is any other home conversion Ive played in the last 20 years, something about the controls and the way the original handles vectors- that why I love this version as it just emulates the original arcade board.
And of course its frustrating- its from an era when games hated you and spent their time skulking in the corners of arcades sneering at your manhood.
Noe of your nampy-pampy, hold you hand, dont worry we will safely gude you through to the end modern games
This is proper gaming- where the game hates you and wants you to lose, wants to beat you, wants to take all our money and send you home crying- those are proper games!

Re: Star Wars
I agree. The Super Mario generation of games are for the milk and kool-aid types.

Re: Star Wars
Yes but most of us arent starring in an exciting scifi blockbuster.
I dont really want to see Luke asking his nurse for permission to use a light saber, or Han Solo trading in the Millennium Falcon for a mobility scooter.
And I prefer my memories of Princess Leia to be a youthful, fiesty lady not someones granny going on bout how things used to be so much better when Alderaan was still around.
