Re: Star Wars
Oh my gosh I remember playing that! Mine was not the original, came with a Rogue Squadron (also fantastic game series) for Gamecube. Good, simple, incredi ly frustrating game!

Re: Star Wars
Troops (the Cops parody) is easily the best Star Wars fanfilm out there but I have to give shout outs to George Lucas in Love and Ryan vs Dorkman 2 as well.

Re: Star Wars
It amazes me just how advanced the film industry is. I have always thought most if the alien characters throughout the prequel trilogy were CGI, this is truly amazing how good this looks with costumes. Same with the LOTR trilogy, though I always knew a lot of that was costumes. Too bad PJ couldn't remember things like this the second time around.

Re: Star Wars
Anakin/Vader's character arc throughout the six films is one of my favorite storylines in any franchise.

Re: Star Wars
I thought the Annakin story was the worst thing in the prequels.
Clumsy, badly written, woodenly acted and with an actual laugh out loud at how bad it is ending ("Noooooooooooo!")

Re: Star Wars
It should have been great- the fall from a good man into becoming Vader- but it just so wasnt for me, at all. The love story was cringe inducing in its scripting too I thought.

Re: Star Wars
I thought the love story was done reasonably well in ROTS, but it was awkward in the Naboo scenes of AOTC. I quite like Christensen's portrayal of Skywalker turning to evil, and Lucas' writing of it. Everyone does have their own opinion though.

Eh, I like Han and Chewie, but I much prefer many EU characters over anyone in the films.

Re: Star Wars
For me the trouble is Lucas- the original trilogy had a great ideac, retell a classic tale in a sci-fi setting- and Lucas had loads of ideas to put in there- but he also had the good sense to hand writing the actual scripts over to real writers.
In the new films there are still great ideas in there- but this time he decided to write the sctipts himself- and sorry, there is not other to put it- he is shit at writing a script.
I suspect had he passed scripting onto somene else they would not have been the leaden, ridiculous, laugh out loud at the bad dialogue films they are.

Re: Star Wars
Lucas wrote the original star wars script, and was one of two writers of the script with episode 6. The only script he had no hand in was episode 5 (and even then I assume he did something). 1 & 3 were both him solely and 2 was another joint effort like 6.
And obviously every film's story (minus script) was done by him solely.

Re: Star Wars
I thought he only wrote the stories on the original trilogy?
According to IMDb the script for Empire was by Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan with Lucas getting a story credit.
Probably why I think its the best SW film!
Brackett did the Star Wars script with Lucas on stroy and Lucas cowrote the Jedi script with Kasdan.
Lucas seems to me much more the ideas man and not so good at the actual writing a natural flowing script bit- I think he would have done much better to have got Kasdan and Barckett back on script duties if possible for the new trilogy too.

Re: Star Wars
Lucas wrote the script for the original film, which by most accounts was something of a mess that was largely saved in editing. For Empire he decided to be less involved, but after a number of creative disagreements with the writers/directors he hired he decided to be more involved in the creation of Return of the Jedi. Lawrence Kasdan definitely had a major influence on the latter two films (especially Empire); I'm not familiar with Brackett.
Interestingly, Kasdan is said to have been hired to write the scripts for the upcoming Episodes VIII and IX, although he won't be writing the first film of the sequel trilogy (that's being penned by Michael Arndt of Toy Story 3 fame).

Re: Star Wars
AOTC probably had the worst script, followed by Phantom.
I they are all good films. My favorite would probably be Revenge of the Sith followed by Empire or Return of the Jedi. A New Hope is just classic, but not my favorite of the series. I'm not sure how I'd rank ANH, Phantom, or AOTC, because I like them all. Clones wasn't really good until the last half hour or so on Geonosis, and the part on Kamino (I am very biased In that regard though because Clone Troopers and Mandolorians are my favorite characters in the entire univers)

Re: Star Wars
So the Sw film I think is the best is the one Lucas was least directly involved in scripting and directing? Figures.
