Re: Star Wars
Came across a Star Wars fan anime that someone made. Then I found a version that someone else redubbed with a song from Heavy Metal and I liked it even more. It's only two minutes and IMO well worth your time. I loved it.
Re: Star Wars
I take it there's no one interested in awesome fan animation here, but that's okay, because the day we've all been waiting for is almost here!
Re: Star Wars
There is a sort of sad inevitability about that!

Re: Star Wars
I must have missed your previous animation post somehow Eldo- just gave it a watch- loved the animation not so keen on the song!
Star wars question for you- one of the tie fighters pilots does it in this at 1:38 and Vader does it in the trench chasing Luke- its a gesture that always reminds me off chalking a cue- what are they supposed to be doing?

Re: Star Wars
Glad you liked the animation, Petty. Some of the weapons are more anime stuff (especially the missile swarms) than Star Wars but I enjoyed it a lot.
I'm not actually sure what the gesture is. When watching the movie I always assumed that Vader was fiddling with the controls of his fighter. There may be a more detailed explanation in the novelization or elsewhere, though.

Re: Star Wars
Space battles can be quite stressful, sometimes you just need to turn up the gas levels.
Re: Star Wars
Very true Lance, gets cold in space eevn ina fight!- but its such a perfect gesture- exactly the sort of motion used when chalking the tip of a cue before a shot- it makes no real sense with lasers mind you but someohow it still conveys the perfect feeling of getting ready to take the shot.
Whoever came up with it is a genius.

Re: Star Wars
I have always wondered what it could possibly be. Only thing I could liken it to in real life is calibrating a scope on a long range rifle. You would imagine if they could build a death star that they would have automatic range finding too!

Re: Star Wars
I just read Harrison Ford is playing Han Solo in a new Star Wars film. Can it be true?

Re: Star Wars
I think at this stage in development anything can still be true.

Re: Star Wars
I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that older versions of Luke, Han, and Leia will appear in the new trilogy, though it's not yet clear if they'll be the main characters or not.
Re: Star Wars
I am looking forward to the new Star Trek movie. With BC as super villain in all leather-hosen....
Re: Star Wars
I really hope they at least stick to the pre-established canon with these new films.

I'm sure they'll more or less stick to the movie canon, but the Expanded Universe is pretty much dead at this point. They've already confirmed that the new trilogy will be an original story.
