Re: Forumshire picture gallery
In short yes Mrs Figg- what you want there is the selction tool, then you outline the thing you want then you 'copy visible'.
Next get your background pic (if you are planning on adding more than one thing its best to create a new layer at this point) then select 'paste into', position it where you want it then anchor it down.
If you want to add something else merge that layer down, create a new layer and repeat the process.
I could make a quick tutorial vid if you want and post it- but itll be for GIMP as I dont use photoshop myself (its the same technique in photoshop but thnigs might be in different places or have different names).

Hey Mrs Figg! Found you. Knew you'd be somewhere.... Fancy it being here on the Art Gallery Thread... Kind of obvious once one knows... Anyhow.. I have names for Ally and Norc --- Eeek and Yrrk... hobgoblins maybe.. ideas developing even as I speak... What think ye? {{{That's esoteric foul-mouthed hobgoblins, of course, perhaps each with a Whelshhaggis of their own which they carry about with them and stroke when thery're lonely! }}}

Petty, you lost me at 'anchor it down'.
I started to think about Vincent van Gogh and lost the plot.

Re: Forumshire picture gallery
Cracking pics Lance- particularly loving the bridge at night (that the Golden Gate Bridge?) and the rocky desert like one (I may try to nick that for recreating in terragen- its good practise to work from real world stuff).
Never been to New York but I have however crashed into almost everything in that pic playing GTA4!
Where's the pic by the river taken?- very tranquil and quite Shire like.

Re: Forumshire picture gallery
Petty - Yes, the Golden Gate bridge taken after an epic day walking. The rocky desert one is from Gilmans point at the top of Kilimanjaro. The peak across the saddle is called Mawenzi peak, we camped under that 2 days before summiting.
The shire/Bywater type picture is Poolebridge in the lake district. The foggy forest is taken on lake Windermere a few days before.
The random one that looks a bit middle eastern is called Charminar, part of the old city in Hyderabad, India. We went there at 2am during a festival where all the shops are open at night. Was amazing!
NYC is a great place if you know where you are going. The over saturated (in the picture i mean) Vegas is also an amazing place.... got to be seen to be believed.
Will post a few others soon.

Re: Forumshire picture gallery
That first one- can you dive off that platform into the sea!
Actually I think this is a sequence in which you depict your daring and James Bondesque escape from Alcatraz view spitfire (or is it a hurricaine?) and dog sled before reaching the villians castle.

Lol. You could but you would need to climb out of the airplane, up on to the top and walk along the 'platform' aka wing.
Long way down.
And yes, that is a Spitfire.

Petty - It's an illusion. Scaffolding and mirrors!
If anyone would like me to post more of a certain subject you have seen, let me know. Not going to put any up that have family or friends in so may be limited in some cases though.

Re: Forumshire picture gallery
heres a photo I did today. I had to climb up a tower to take it, and it was really scary old iron stairs, I nearly wimped out as I get vertigo really bad. I could see the ground through the iron railings and at the top there was a ladder to the parapet, the original photo is a bit wobbly, my hand was shaking so much.
