Petty's Purist LotR Edits

I tried to watch the Bakshi version but gave up pretty quickly. I must have a look at your edits sometime, Petty. How do I get them?

Yeah Anne, I think Bakshi's LotR is kind of an orphan movie, equally spurned by Bakshi fans and Tolkien fans.

I did find the Bakshi thread. It looks interesting, but I think I'll save it for after the holidays because I know as soon as I've read it I'll have to watch both the RB and the PJ versions again. I've wondered if RB's literal use of Tolkien's dialog didn't have more to do with laziness than with respect for the language. He kind of packs it in with a shovel and then stomps it with his heal like so much fill dirt.

Oh and Petty, I should ask, do you have any objections to having the mega-edit shared? I know some friends who'd love it.

Not at all. More people who see it happier I am. (And more reason to eventually get round to the tweaked HD super smooth edit!) Spread the word David!

I've only recently discovered about the existence of this megaedit and it sounds like everything I've ever dreamed of. Is it possible for me to download a copy of this? I've already searched the fora and google for some information on this but couldn't find it. Thanks in advance!

I can't tell a lie it will probably take you a bit to dl but its all 3 films in one (running to approx 8hrs 25) and still not as long as it took to upload the damn thing!!!

Whooo! Good news! The latest version of the megaedit is almost complete and its much smoother and considerably tweaked for viewing pleasure. And best of all its full HD 1080p! (God knows what size the file is going to be- I've never outputted a full HD film thats over 8 hrs long before!)
Just got the subtitles and the red eye of sauron filter to add and it will be done. More info to follow once I know how big the bugger is!

Even if I do say so myself Ringdrotten I am very chuffed with this version. Its way smoother to watch and I've had time to muse on the old one a few times and see what needed fixed.

There are two. One for the younger Forumshirer, and another for the older, more perverted Forumshirer.

Well that's the latest version finished editing. Just need to output it now, convert it and see what sort of file size I end up with. Should know by sometime tomorrow.
