I notice that our favorite Mongolian sheepherder (Bofur) appears to be carrying a flute of some sort in his poster. I think that's one of the first musical instruments we've seen with the Dwarves.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Trailer 2Watch more videos like this02:24
Back when The Lord Of The Rings films were being released in cinemas each Christmas, an extra frisson of excitement was always reserved for the unveiling of a new extended edition on DVD.
That festive treat is set to re-emerge once again with The Hobbit, with Warner Bros confirming that An Unexpected Journey will be released in its extended form on DVD towards the end of 2013.
Given that The Hobbit has already been stretched from two films to three, it remains to be seen just how much footage will be restored, although we can’t pretend we’re not excited by the added value to the home video release.
The extended editions of the LOTR series were always groaning with behind the scenes material, and of all the DVD special features we’ve seen, the Appendices remain right up there as the most interesting and involving.
If Peter Jackson can repeat the trick, that’s our Christmas present sorted for the next three years. Meanwhile, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens in UK cinemas on 14 December 2012.

Re: More Hobbit pictures [2] SPOILER THREAD
The announcement that The Hobbit was going to be stretched across three films rather than two caught a lot of people in Hollywood off guard, and apparently the cast were no different, with Hugo Weaving revealing that he has only just found out!
“I found out The Hobbit was going to be a trilogy quite recently, when everyone else found out about it,” confirms the star. “Originally, when I said goodbye to Pete [Jackson] in L.A., I said, ‘I’ll see you on The Hobbit,’ and he said, ‘Well, I’m not doing The Hobbit.’ And then, it was, ‘We are doing The Hobbit, but I’m not going to direct it.’ And then, it was, ‘Well, I am directing it now.’”
“And then, it was, ‘Actually, we’re doing The Hobbit in two films.’ So, when I went to shoot it out there, there were two scripts and two films. Now, I’ve just found out [about the third film], not that long ago, when it was announced. He said, “Well, we’ve got all this fabulous material and these wonderful people.’”
“They hadn’t filmed the final battle sequence yet, which would have been at the end of [the second film],” continues Weaving. “For a number of reasons, they decided that there are three films in there. I hope there are. I don’t know. I was truly there for four or five weeks and enjoyed myself, and went home again.”
Doesn’t sound like a bad life, does it? The first part of the trilogy will be unveiled in a couple of months when The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens in the UK on 14 December 2012.

Re: More Hobbit pictures [2] SPOILER THREAD
Jackson had already hinted at his plan for a trilogy at this year's Comic-Con, and now it seems as though the director has crystallised his ambitions, with producers Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens already exploring the logistics of a third film.
According to Heat Vision, talks have gone well so far, with the studio reportedly on board conditional on financial arrangements proving agreeable. "If we're going to do it," says a source close to the production, "we have to make a decision soon. It's strongly driven by the filmmakers' desire to tell more of the story."
This being Jackson, the plan isn't simply to spread the original text more thinly across the three films, but instead to explore the book's various appendices, which include a number of characters and stories not included in the primary story. It's an approach that Jackson has already attempted to employ while filming the first two films.
"We haven’t just adapted The Hobbit," he explains. "We’ve adapted that book plus great chunks of his appendices and woven it all together. The movie explains where Gandalf goes; the book never does. We’ve explained it using Tolkien’s own notes. That helped inform the tone of the movie, because it allowed us to pull in material he wrote in the Lord Of The Rings era and incorporate it with The Hobbit."

Odd cant find Tauriel anywhere! Or all those orcs with made up names.

mmm, great chunks- odd way to explain a few pages (if your lucky), shouldnt have taken too much weaving then, assuming of course you dont make up lots of silly stuff about Radagast and Nazgul tombs that is.

The battle that ends film 2? Dol Duldur? Or 5 Armies? Either way - yikes! (Especially if it's 5 Armies - plain weird).

I think Radagast must have a squint and a problem with depth perception-either that or he is just shit with a hammer and nails.

I suppose its not TOO bad but I'm more concerned with that bird crap on Radagast's head and face. The spiders were probably bird eating spiders and smelling like bird poop to them they were gonna try and eat him

The shape and lines look to me like something more suited to Tim Burton films.

No bird poop in Radagast's hair this time. This is hopeful, maybe it was a one-time gag tied into the added scenes.
