Re: Harry Potter
I think its more a tweenagers curiosity towards alcohol than encouragement. Its talked about as an adult thing to do, I suppose Harry is curious like all kids are. The books dont have him drunk or vomiting or hungover or anything.

i don't think butterbeer is alchahol.. more like ingefærøl or vørterøl, although.. more magical
Re: Harry Potter
yes Butterbeer is not really hard core alco-pop stuff. Its pretty mild from what I remember in the Three Broomsticks. But Sirius was there so I dont remember much else.

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking too. I sort of imagine something like a liquid caramel drink with the efferct of red bull, not sure why though.
Ingefærøl = ginger ale, btw.

Re: Harry Potter
It definitely contains some alcohol as a house elf gets drunk after drinking moderate amounts of the stuff. I imagine in our sad muggle world it would be classified under near beer.

Re: Harry Potter
rus-brus is for pre-teens who don't like the taste of beer but wants to get wasted *facepalm*
Re: Harry Potter
I still think it tastes like caramel.

Re: Harry Potter
No doubt, no doubt, but I'm certain it has very low alcohol content- well it must do- as no humans seem to get drunk after drinking mugfulls of the stuff.

Re: Harry Potter
Btw, I always imagined it to taste similar to butterscotch schnapps/ cream soda but that's only after I made it one time as a kid

She may have been influenced whilst writing in Edinburgh by Scotshobbit child rearing.

Re: Harry Potter
Richard Griffiths, who has acted in Withnail and I and Harry Potter, has died at the age of 63 following heart surgery. Nicholas Hytner, director of the National Theatre, pays tribute to his 'rare ability to be at once very funny and very desolate'. Griffiths, whose role as the unconventional teacher in the History Boys brought him wide acclaim, leaves behind a wife of 33 years

Re: Harry Potter
I went to the Harry Potter studios yesterday.
Can't really say I've read the books or seen more than maybe 3 of the films. The geeky stuff was lost on me but the amount of work that went in to it was incredible!
