Thats what I thought Norc- but I permanently wear a kilt and a live in barrel so figured I probably wasn't qualified to judge on fashion.

Diana Rigg will need to introduction to gents of a certain age who harbour fond youthful memories of the Avengers but she also has had a long career covering stage, screen and television including The Assassination Bureau, Diana, Bleak House and The Mrs. Bradley Mysteries. She also hosted the PBS series Mystery! for some 15 years.

'Andrew Garfield, star of the latest incarnation of Spiderman, reflects on his own association with Doctor Who: "The history of Doctor Who and the heritage and legacy of Doctor Who is huge; it was an honour to be a part of that show, absolutely. And I'm so happy that everyone is now seeing Matt Smith for the incredible actor and Doctor that he is. He's a friend of mine and I am so proud and happy of him - he is a tremendous actor and he's been put to fantastic use and giving so many people so much joy, god bless him. So, yeah, I'm honoured to be a part of that legacy."-BBC

(He was in the episodes "Daleks in Manhattan" and "Evolution of the Daleks").

Its Tv Awards time again, the one voted for by the public.

Doctor who is up in the Best Family Drama category against Glee, Merlin, and Waterloo Road.

Matt Smith is up for best actor against- Martin Clunes, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Colin Morgan

Karen Gillan is up for Best Actress against- Miranda Hart, Jaye Jacobs, and Freya Mavor

And you will be happy to know Norc that Sherlock is also in the running for Best Drama Series.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at The Dorchester in London on Monday 10th September.

You can cast your vote here: http://www.tvchoicemagazine.co.uk/tvchoice-awards-2012

Not sure how Who will do this year- Karen got best actress (and rightly so) at least years but with no new Who before the awards I think it will suffer from not being in the public eye as it was last time round.

Doctor Who [2] - Page 24 Image-16

'Matt Smith has been made patron of the National Youth Theatre, it was announced today.
He joined the NYT in 2002 and during his time there was lauded for his portrayal of Archbishop Thomas Becket in T S Eliot's Murder In The Cathedral, as well as that of Fagotto (Bassoon) in an adaptation by David Rudkin of The Master and Margarita, by Mikhail Bulgakov.
Smith told how being part of the NYT had transformed his life: I think from my experience the thing about the NYT is that you learn through practice. You're out there on a stage, you're doing a play, you're being directed, you're turning up for rehearsals every day and working as you would work in a professional rehearsal room. It completely transformed my life. No understatement. I'm proud to be part of it still and proud to be the organisation's newest patron, as I care very deeply about it.
Paul Roseby, the NYT's artistic director and chief executive, who knew Smith when he was at the NYT, said: We're all thrilled at the National Youth Theatre to announce that Matt Smith is the latest recruit to our illustrious list of patrons.
Matt is a perfect role model for the latest generation of brave new talent. Raw, fearless, and a passion for theatre is something that doesn't just sum up our company but also the wonderful Matt Smith. As we continue to operate in challenging economic times, like everyone in the arts, it's always good to have a Doctor in the house.
Smith is no stranger to patronages. Earlier this year, he was made patron of the Young Writers' Festival at the Royal Court Theatre in London.'- Gallifrey Base

Incidentally Matt started his run with the torch from outside the Norwegian Church in Cardiff (not sure what that is beyond a church but apprently its called the Norwegan Church- so me spreading the Who to Fjordian parts seems cosmically to have been given the thumbs up in a very Who sort of way Very Happy )

Seems Petty is not too fond of them. - Amarie

No, the stories that they are in are full of gaping plot holes (the 2nd one is even worse though) and whilst all the fart jokes might go down well with the 10 year olds, and they are a big part of the audience, they didnt do much for me.
In many ways the Slitheen episodes represent all the things that eventually did my head in about the RTD's period- London landmarks (no10 in this case, Big Ben in the opening), childish humour (as oppposed to child-like humour, only adults can be as poor as to be childish, kids never are), kitchen sink family drama and a plot so thin it goes transparent in direct sunlight.
It does have one saving grace for me though, Harriet Jones, MP. Very Happy

And Mrs Figg surely everyone likes chips! (and if you're American chips are not what you think they are-always getting the language wrong!! Evil or Very Mad )

Been there! Loads of activities go on in that church, I think it's something to do with Cardiff being twinned with this Norwegian city. Not to be outdone Swansea had the famous...Colin Jackson carrying the torch Rolling Eyes

A lovely Doctor/Amy video I found rather moving. Wiping away a buckied tear here. Sad (Your heart must be stone Mrs Figg, stone! Mad )

Ive put this song up before, but this vid accompanying it is perfect. Again this is one huge spoiler for the finale to series 5 so if you havent seen it don't watch. (Assuming anyone watches anyway Mad )

Doctor Who [2] - Page 24 Image-17
The universal remote control based on the Eleventh Doctor's sonic screwdriver will be available to buy in the UK from Friday 31st August, the BBC announced today.

As previously reported, the device, pictured right, has been developed by BBC Worldwide in conjunction with The Wand Company.

The high-quality metal replica of the Mark VII sonic screwdriver is a gesture-based remote control that uses infra-red technology to manipulate almost all home-entertainment systems - from TVs and iPod docks to DVD/Blu-ray players and beyond.

With a green flashing tip and four modes – including a practice mode – and three memory banks, a total of 39 commands can be stored, giving users the option of operating multiple home-entertainment devices.

The sonic screwdriver universal remote control works via a series of 13 short gestures, such as rotating, flicking, or tapping, and a guided set-up procedure uses spoken prompts to match gestures to commands learnt from existing remote controls. In addition, the FX operational mode has a range of authentic vintage Doctor Who sound effects, while an in-built security setting comprising a three-digit PIN will prevent unauthorised use of the device.

UPDATE (7pm): A BBC spokeswoman told Doctor Who News that the remote control will be available in the UK from the BBC Shop, Firebox, and Forbidden Planet. DWN understands that the product will be available in the USA via the BBC America Shop and ThinkGeek from September.- Gallifrey Base

I want one, except I don't really have enough gizmos to warrant having it. Sad
