- The Doctor guesses at before America- but thats a guess, he doesnt seem to actually know- my own hunch is during Imp Astro/Day of the Moon where there seems to be a time discrepancy -she first sees the hatch eye-patch lady in the orphanage- so it had to be before then. My guess is when she is in the room with all the Silence on the ceiling-there is a time jump there when she looks at her reflection in the window and then notices all the marks on her arm.
Also when she is taken captive and Rory is listening to her she talks about being in the dark, not being able to see anything- which is not much like where she is when they rescue her, which is a large room that is lit- that Amy could well be in the 'birthing chamber'- in which case that explains why they took the implant out her hand. They would have to transfer it to the Flesh version, which is what the Doctor tracks the signal of leading them to the flesh Amy- this might also explain the Silence telling Amy that she is 'nearly ready'
Just the midseason finale to go then- then you'll have to pretend youve had to wait half a year and all summer to see the rest!

The Silence
- Spoiler:
- Regarding the Silence- well the aliens in suits at least-I am not convinced they are necessarily bad guys, as such.
I base this on the Imp Ast.- in it when Amy meets the Silence in the restroom it instructs her to tell the Doctor "what he must know and what he must never know."
At this point as a viewer this would seem to be a reference to the Doctors death- which River has told us he must never find out about as it could create a paradox.
And later in that two parter we learn that the Silence control people by a sort of post-hypnotic means- when you see them they tell you something, you look away, forget all about them but still do what they asked.
Amy seems to have done this too- but what she tells the Doctor is that she is pregnant- when this happens in the episode it seems completely out of place, out of left field and her insistence on telling the Doctor when she does, not exactly an appropriate time as the Doctor notes is suspicious.
Clearly the thing the Silence wanted her to tell the Doctor was that she was pregnant. If they are all bad- why would they do that?
That one bit of info sets everything else off. From that moment on the Doctor is on the trail of working out whats going on.
In the Flesh two-parter it is clear from the start the Doctor knows more than he is telling- he already knows about the Flesh before he goes there- he tries to offload Amy and Rory first too, and he makes several small statements that give away that he already knows. He describes the Flesh in that episode as an 'early version' for example as if he is already familar with later versions.
Anyway back to Amy- when she is captured by the Silence they tell her that she she is 'nearly ready' and that she will bring about the Silence and for that they 'do her honour'.
So in conclusion, I don't know what Moffat is up to, or even if I'm reading too much into it (hard not to with Moffats writing) but the Silence aliens seem to be up to more than we so far realise, I think.....
