Granted Sots have been involved in all of those things too but its the English get the blame.

Well, I thought that vid was funny, & I dont see any racism, The English seem to want to bitch & moan about everything cos there's nothing interesting going on in their lives at mo, or, it seems, ever WILL be. I get fed up with it to ! bunch of whining bastards. And this is going to sound ageism,but I dont care, its true,(here in the South anyway) but the Oldies moan more than anyone ! I used to think it was me, that I was insensitive & mentally unhinged, now I dont care ! Ive got a sense of humour & its helped me all my life, & I aint gonna change for anyone. Thats not how many see it. Nobody holds any real hatred for the english any more, but there is still some resentment.
That mainly stems from 1745 and the crushing of the Jacobite uprising.
But its not old defeats that people still resent.
Following that Uprising speaking in gaelic could get you tongue ripped out, wearing a tartan got you killed.
There was a quite delibrate attempt to wipe out our culture- and it very nearly succeded.
There is a reason that I speak English and only a few words of gaelic, my native tongue.
And 90% of modern tartans are Victorian inventions because by the time the ban was lifted the weavers, the pattern makers and those who knew the secrets of the original designs and their meanings were gone.
A whole chunk of culture consigned to the dustbin of history and replaced with an English facsmile to please a monarch.

And you might say that was all a long time ago- but I did history all through shool and never covered any specific Scottish history- we did the Roman invasion of Britain and WW1 and 2 and the Russian Revolution.
I grew up in what once the captial Kingdom of the First Kings of Scotland and home to the Dalreida- and I only found out after I had left school.

Its only now, after a Scottish parliament has been set up and directly intervened, that we teach our children our own countries history. Now kids get gaelic lessons from primary school on- but its taken 300 years of resentment to get even just that back.

So there are old gipes and their fresh gripes, and there has always been the sese that England has been slowly trying to snuff us out, to Angelsise us ever since 1745.

Where the English tend to see issues with Scotland as being in the past. Scots tend to see it active still all around them to this day.

well I could hate the Romans for destroying my culture, ie Welsh Druids, Killing all the holy men and stamping out Celtic culture but you have to let it go.

Not if it appears to still be ongoing. If it were confined to history I would agree with you. The killing might have stopped its not as blatant as sending in the red coats any more but that sense of a concentrated effort to destroy our culture never went away, rightly or wrongly, it still exists.

How come the UK government has never funded our language or the teaching of it- we had to get our own parliament to get that?

How come Scotland puts a far larger percent of tax per head of population into the BBC yet funds mainly English programming?

How come Westminister stepped in to prevent the Scottish news been broadcast here as the main news bulletin- making us instead sit through what is laughingly called the 'National News'- read English news unless there is a disaster up here- and then give us a short Scottish news bulletin when the rest of England is getting its regional news- they think our country is equivelent to a region?

And thats just for starters.

well if you want freedom I suppose you have to sort those things out and pay for those things yourselves? or is it only freedom when it suits?

Well that snicely offensive as well as I assume willfully ignorant.

We are part of a Union still.
We pay our taxes to the UK government- we are not allowed under the terms of Union to raise our own capital- eveything raised here goes to Westminister and they allocate our spending- and they fund welsh, they fund Cornish and god knows what else- but not our language?- a language remember the majority in Scotland dont speak anymore because the English banned it on pain of having your tongue ripped out, if you were lucky.

In my grandfather's early years he worked in the wheat fields of eastern Washington, which are far from flat. It took teams of 20 horses to pull the reapers. Because of the hills, the driver had to sit up on a tall ladder so he could still see the lead horses when they'd crested over a hill. The horses could work on hills that would have been impossible with early tractors.

My Granddad used to plough with horse in his youth on the isles of Bute. I suspect they didnt use quite as many as that- Rothesay (the main island) actually has some very good farm land on it.

I dont know what a FAB is unless you are comparing yourself to a 1970's lolly shaped like a space rocket and with sprinkles on top.
But I would be disappointed and wouldnt expect you to take your role as oppressor anything less than seriously!
