Re: Music
one of the most beautiful piece of music ever written (and hardly playable!) we're playing this suite at summer camp (i play 1.violin, not solo mind you! that's insane)
Re: Music
Iliked that Norc, but it was a little too, pranicng, in places for my classical tastes- I like more crabbit in it.
Something like this- (although its a bit prancing too but the crabbit makes up for it from about the 3 minute or so point)
It get a lot madder and more crabbit later on but the full piece is about an hour long- I recommend it though.
Basically classical music that sounds like nature looks, does it for me, especially if nature is throwing a Mrs Figg about the place at the time!
I can actually see the way the weather changes and the sea and sky react to it around the isles when I listen to this- its a spot on musical description!

Re: Music
Although I dont like opera I do like a bit of orchestra choral. And when its Mozart, well you know your on to a winner.
Really enjoyed that.
Carmena Burana is a favourite of mine, although the bit everyone tends to know is just the opening, O Fortuna (and those of us of a certain generation always end up thinking of Old Spice aftershave!)- still great stuff, and who knew monks could be so crabbit!

Re: Music
Doesnt it have a volume control?!
Headphones are a good option for really crabbit and loud classical music I think.

Re: Music
that last one Petty with the landscape was wonderful! it felt like film music (and i love that because it has so much mood in it)
Re: Music
one need a goooooood stereo to play classical. the car won't do. as it changes in volume all the time.
take "mountain king" by Edvard Grieg for instance. it starts really low then you get a heart attack.

Re: Music
Im not a big classical fan.... I like some bits here and there. If anyone likes a bit of rock too you should try Metallica's live album S&M. Its all stuff from their back catalogue but performed with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.
Most of it works!

Re: Music
There's pieces in Gladiator that are the same in "pirates/Carribbean". I thought I heard that piece before. Starts at 4.13.

My son is well into "cradle of filth" & its rubbed off onto me ! The list of thrash, death, speed, metal music he's into is a mile long by now ! & of course I get to hear some of it. still like this tho !
