That's cool! I wonder if it's real.

Re: Tales of Home [1]
was that from home, Mrs Figg? Pretty funny.
On a less funny note, I'm watching reports come in from the coasts. Looks like special effects, nothing that could be real. One example of phrases you hear: "She was in that house when it split in half after being hit by another house."

Now that the subways are running down to the demarcation line I may go down there tonight and see what Armageddon will feel like. Blackout tourism.

Re: Tales of Home [1]
Relatedly, I just saw this picture on Facebook and it made me smile; I hope it's real.
Re: Tales of Home [1]
I'm sure it's real. On the flip side the looting started up in the hardest hit and most economically disadvantaged areas. The worst off can't catch a break. Sigh. Manhattan was fortunate in that the hardest hit was also the ritziest and the most isolated once transportation is cut.

We've been having some pretty blustery weather recently. I drove into town yesterday, and about half an hour before I got to the bridge in the picture, a gust of wind had caught the empty truck trailer below and flipped it on it's side in the middle of the center span! I imagine the driver needed a change of underware!

Re: Tales of Home [1]
well, its chuffing well cold & rainy here,(UK), it'll keep getting darker, wetter & colder till the Winter Solstice in December then things slowly pick up towards Spring. That sounds nice doesnt it, just means its colder, wetter & darker for MONTHS till Spring, but even then its only lighter, still wet, cold & windy,

Flooding all over my bit of the world- main road out of the penniusla is under a land slide- ferries are on and off, roads are flooded and the new extension, just finished, on the local supermarket is mainly rubble and the new drainage system for the river through town has been overwhelmed and its burst its banks.
And weve had it light compared to some parts on the west coast.

Re: Tales of Home [1]
Any other Americans here making plans for Thanksgiving? We always have people over but unfortunately a number of regulars can't make it due to one thing or another so we'll have a relatively small crowd this year. We're still going to have tons of food though.
My mom and I went to the farm to pick up our turkey today. The farm is owned by the family of someone my brother went to pre-school with so we've known them for a long time. It's only a few minute's drive away, though it feels more isolated than that. We once got a 40 pound turkey for them that didn't entirely fit in the oven we had at the time.
