We may be few but I kind of like it. A tight band of refugees busily (doing the work the bigger forums need thousands to perform!), and still waiting for the day when Dark Planet (or whatever it's called) can be overthrown! Cool

Reminds me of some lines of a song in an old movie:

"Give me ten men,
Ten stout hearted men,
And I'll give you ten thousand more!"

NB I presume whoever sang it meant Men and Women --- for back then Women were included as Men, by all accounts. Here to help! Very Happy

I was round at a friends using his pc and did a search for the forum- he uses yahoo as his home page but a search for 'the hobbit movie forum' turned us up 3rd!! The only ones above us were both for the Dark Planet. The first was our old site Evil or Very Mad

which just links to their forum, and the second a direct link to their forum.
Still 3rd- not bad at all!! Very Happy

We are 8th on google for the term Hobbit Movie Forum, and I'd say that's amazing work! Plus most of the forums above us aren't even very active, so naturally people will join the best forum, i.e this one!

I wonder if the pure truth is even true anymore, Ally. Forumshire is not what it used be. Uncle Odo tells me there were even "rules" here once... back in the good old days... They were in place here just before he arrived but were put under siege very quickly afterward, he tells me. It was just as well he arrived when he did for he immediately began the fight against the wave of disrespectabilty that infected Forumshire so suddenly. I guess a hero always arrives just when he's needed, Illuvatar bless him! Very Happy

I decided to google our forum and see where we were (7th) and thought I might visit the other forums to see how busy they were. The good news is out of about 6 of the top Hobbit forums I went to we are far and away the busiest-some havent had any posts in days or even weeks.
But it seems TH film is just not arousing the interest that the LotR's films did. And I wonder if the cast are feeling this too. I suspect one of the reasons new members are few and far between is that not many people are googling for hobbit related info.
I partly blame the lack of teasing info for this. Very little news seems to be coming direct from source save press releases of castings. We need something to spark peoples interest again.

The films definitely need more marketing. I think many who only watched the films have no idea that there is a book called the Hobbit (let alone The Lord of the Rings), and that might be the reason why there's not much interest in the films (yet). Give it some time, the first film is still a year and a half away Smile

I'm pretty sure there was a lot more buzz about FotR a year and a half before release. Perhpas those who were more active online during that time than I was could make a better comparison but I seemed to remember there just being more stuff, even this early on- pictures from set, costumes, blogs etc.
