Re: Hobbit Forum Refugees
I signed up for facebook when I was 11- didn't use it until I was 14/15 and a few more of my classmates started using it. It's defiantly good for school usage, many a question I got answered, such as what week were were on, or is it mufti tomorrow? But I don't want to spend my time talking to people I vaguely knew, or shared a desk with in y7, well I don't nowadays anyway!

Re: Hobbit Forum Refugees
I have a Facebook that I mainly just use to keep in touch with my family while I'm away at school. I go on most every day but I don't stay much. I only created my account after being forced to do so, anyway.

Well, it is, but I was hoping someone with an account could post a link to our forum on his message board- seeing as plenty of others seem to have done just that for their webpages.

Re: Hobbit Forum Refugees
I just made one of my infrequent visits to PT to see if anything else of ours had turned up- and our PJ's appearances in the films thread has appeared, so they are still putting our stuff up it seems, just slowly.

Re: Hobbit Forum Refugees
As a result of this I made my fist visit to PT in a few weeks and this is what I saw:
Yeah ... given the, er, "quality" of what is now being posted in our old threads, I think I'll stay here.
Brego wrote:Pety Tyrant, I had to read this a few times to realize that your comments are utterly infuriating . I am a great lover of first the books, second the films. I cannot believe that you would think such critically acclaimed films are so bad. If your argument made sense I may be able to agree with some of your points as there is no such thing as a perfect film. These films were shot over ten years ago, in technology terms that's eons and I feel that they still stack up. Its rare to find a fantasy film that is believable and which has good acting, good script and in the the case of the LOTRs films stays true to the original story in theme and focus.
Can we just get over the slight, yes slight differences in the films and just enjoy them as well as the books!
Ok Im over my rant now. I think Ill go read a chapter of the Sil.......

Well, even I agree that the differences between film and book are more than "slight"

Re: Hobbit Forum Refugees
Yes well its hardly a valid criticism I feel. I never have claimed there was such a thing as a perfect film, nor do I see the relevance of an age of a film regards its quality, as the many fantastic old films prove. And the final sentence is laughable.

That sounds like something saradoc would say! Maybe Brego and Saradoc are the same person!! I mean Saradoc's posted replies like:
"That's such a purist thing to say! How Purists can't accept that Peter Jackson is a worldclass film director, showered with a ton of awards for his adaptation of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, is beyond me! Surely you can't mean this slander against PJ's reputable name?! How long ago did you give up wisdom for madness?!! :O
Sure, they maybe a few inconsistencies, a few bad scenes, a few bad films- but that's just being picky. Maybe he should have included the Scouring, maybe he shouldn't of included that scene with Frodo sending Sam away, heaven forbid, maybe he shouldn't have portrayed Merry & Pippin & Gimli as three pairs of massive ( ) comical clowns. Those examples aside, you've got to admit he's a great man. Without him, I wouldn't have posted this message to a reply which would have never been said. Now doesn't that make you sad?"

I still pop in to PT now and again, although it is not a very active place. The sad thing is that in my news hopping I have stopped checking HMN as there is little new on it and then only after other sites!

Why are you so full of Negativity?
See, it's such a bad word that it is bold and italic and it has a Capital Letter!

I believe the term is "crabbit".
Re: Hobbit Forum Refugees
Crabbit noun. moody person who dislikes PlanetTolkien. Eg. That person's weird. He must be from Planet Tolkien.
Not to be confused with the small mammals, called Rabbits.

Re: Hobbit Forum Refugees
I'm not sure about that definition Odo. You see I can see that evil den of iniquity for what it is but I fear I may not, fully, qualify as a Reputable, though I've no idea why not - pass me another duckie will you, its much easier to get a drink if you smash their heads of the table first you know- em where was I? Yes, no idea why I'm not classed as Reputable, but I am crabbit- so maybe your definition needs refining.

It's RRP is £1,000,000. But for you and other "Ally lovers" I'm raising the price to £2,000,000. Which I think you'll agree is fair and reasonable....
p.s Any planetolkien fans, great site, I really recommend it to anyone here, by the way get the dictionary of Saradoc for free!
