I'm not trying to be smug or elitist. It's just that I rarely watch anything on TV except for sports but I regularly watch TV shows online through Amazon, Hulu, or wherever. So the TV thing really did just slip my mind.

Re: Sherlock - BBC
But does sassen mean saxon I wonder? its interesting to know where words come from, like the word bankrupt comes from the italian bancarotta, which literally means broken table or banco. merchants displayed their goods on tables before their premises.
It is said that the economic concept of bankruptcy originated from when a merchant could not pay his debts, the table on which he sold his wares (the "banco") was physically broken ("rotto") by soldiers, and this practice was called "bancorotto" (broken table; possibly it can come from "banca rotta" which means "broken bank"). Not having a table anymore, the merchant was not able to sell anything.

I saw that 'bank' business somewhere too. On a doco maybe. Interesting. It all brings back fond memories. You see, I started my first bank on the banks of The Water. When I was at the beginning of my career in commerce - back when I was even shorter of money than I am now. Nowadays, thankfully, I can rub a couple of pennies together. I'm not totally distitute now, no, for which I am thankful.

what does smug or elitist mean?
Re: Sherlock - BBC
Smug er selvtilfreds, snobbete og nedlatende. Og det er i grunnen elitist også.
Words I have always associated with Eldo btw.
I hope someone will go back and hide the spoilers. Or I guess I should just avoid this thread.
Anyhow... the episodes may only be there for one week, but I sure was glad it was up as the recording was messed up half way through, so we had to go there to see the end!
BTW; "it's a three patch problem". <--- BRILLIANT!! XD

Not a problem, Norc. You wouldn't believe it, but I don't know a word of Fjordianlandian. No, I'm not joking. I don't. Honest truth! It's hard to believe, isn't it!
If I didn't tell you this, I bet you wouldn't haven't been a bit the wiser, Norc. It's true isn't it.
I put my skill down to experience, age, natural abilitlity, and an over-abundent sense of selfhood, self confidence, and a perfectly humble belief that I can work out any language in Forumshire without any training at all!

But does sassen mean saxon I wonder? - Mrs Figg
According to wiki more or less yes.
'Sassenach is a word used chiefly by the Scots to designate an Englishman. It derives from the Scottish Gaelic Sasunnach meaning, originally, "Saxon", from the Latin "Saxones"; it was also formerly applied by Highlanders to (non-Gaelic-speaking) Lowlanders.'

The forum has built-in spoiler tags, Mrs Figg. Just type the following code, like this:
The text inside the [spoiler] tags will appear as a simple white bar until someone clicks on it, at which point it will appear.
