Oh it's worth sticking with, if only to hear Lucy state quite seriously that "this is definately a gender change....."

Re: Sherlock - BBC
The Reichenbach Fall was on PBS tonight, wrapping up the American broadcast of series two. I caught this episode with my mom, who wanted to rewatch it, after we skipped last week. Did anyone (Halfwise) get a chance to see it too?
Re: Sherlock - BBC
Yup. I think Halfwise was watching it tonight too.

Re: Sherlock - BBC
yep, I saw it. In the book version of Reichenbach there were no witnesses, affording Doyle a way to stage the comeback. (Sheer Luck, if you'll pardon the pun: Doyle of course truly wanted him dead). I can't figure how they'll explain Sherlock living through it on TV, there didn't seem to be any wiggle room there.
I was annoyed at the 'master key' plot element for a while, and was relieved when Moriarty also sneered at it. It does rather destroy the conceit of Sherlock being highly computer literate though; even I could see through it.

Is it known when BBC will likely air the 3rd season? That was a true classic cliffhanger ending!

Re: Sherlock - BBC
Sadly David thats very much up in the air. The actors want to do another sries, the writers want to do another series, the BBC want another series- but they dont know if they can get everyone back (or afford to pay for them) now Cumberbatch and Freeman or off doing big movies.

Re: Sherlock - BBC
there is the problem with either public or state-owned TV: you don't bring in advertiser money if something becomes popular. Does BBC have adverts? Painful trade-off, you often get better quality shows but can't keep them going.

Re: Sherlock - BBC
The BBC has no advertising (thank Eru), its a public broadcaster- nor however are they short of money- the commercial comapnaies here are always complaining about how the BBC can afford to do stuff they cant- like anything with David Attenborough in it.
And they make a mint off of overseas sales too- Sherlock is a huge seller, it makes them lots of money (as is Who which was the number 1 downloaded show in the US last year-and the BBC have kept it going, ore or less, for 50 years!) Cash they are not short of.
I think its more a problem with contracts and the like- TH was delayed slightly because Freeman was already contracted to series 2 of Sherlock- now they need to get him and Cumberbatch at the same time contracted again- given a film can take a year or so to make that makes getting them both available for long enough to make it the main obstacle.

Re: Sherlock - BBC
I guess it depends if they want to do it, its their choice to do films or not, if they like working together and dont mind going back to tv after film then they will, if they now expect their own starring roles in hollywood blockbusters they wont. it depends on how the Hobbit goes, if it makes Martin a 'star' then its going to be difficult, he will be innundated with juicy offers.

Re: Sherlock - BBC
I was under the impression that the BBC had ordered a third series at the same time as the second and that the problem was not so much contracting and paying the stars as just finding a time when they (and Moffat and Gatiss) could all work together due to scheduling. The 50th Anniversary Season of Doctor Who is taking up a lot of Moffat's time which contributes to the scheduling problem.
Re: Sherlock - BBC
I think they'll make them. in the end. Dunno how long it takes, but as long as they make it xD I read a live chat, and they seem pretty stoked on a season 3 (and I always think they had a 3rd season in mind while making the second). The question is just when they can gather everyone i have faith!

I'm sure you're right. The way the last episode ended, it's clear that there is a mystery and a "magic trick" that needs to be explained. I would even bet that they already filmed more of the story at the same time so they can explain everything in Season 3 Episode 1. Which means that there is at least a draft script`of the first episode, and all of the cast and crew know what really happened.
Nobody better say a single word (as much as I'd like to know)
