Re: Sherlock - BBC
Doctor Who will be taking up a fair bit of Moffats time next year I should imagine- just in events alone- the current series is filming now and will still be filming at Christmas- but that only does up to the end of that series and the xmas special which will finish airing just before the Spring- which leaves a half a year of the anniversary in which I can assure you Who fans will be expecting a lot more- and plans for which are apparently underway but top secret.
Fitting Sherlock in too is going to make Mr Moffat one very busy man next year! My guess would be they plan to shoot Sherlock inbetween fininshing the filming of the current Who season (at about xmas) and before they start shooting the anniverary stuff (probably in the early summer).

Re: Sherlock - BBC
Don't know if this was posted in another thread (our Sherlock conversations seem to be spread out quite a bit) but an interesting word from Moffat about series three. It seems that Moriarty won't be making a return. I loved Andrew Scott's take on the character but I welcome the decision to explore other villains.

Re: Sherlock - BBC
"We have to keep the show growing otherwise it won't surprise you," he suggested. "Once you get the measure of it you'll just get critical - if we keep surprising you and keeping you off balance, you won't."- Moffat about Sherlock.
That would also perfectly describe how he approaches Doctor Who as well.

and to those who says these kind of polls are pointless because they just reflect current time and bla bla bla..
Re: Sherlock - BBC
Well I am huge Sherlock fan- I think it is a wonderful version, and Cumberbatch is a superb Holmes- but Brett is still the best acting job I'm afraid Norc.

Re: Sherlock - BBC
He doesn't provide a very likable Holmes, though. In the books he comes across as somewhat lighter.
I'll probably get creamed for saying this, but I think Basil Rathbone best captured the character of Holmes as seen in the books, though the movies suffered due to the manufactured feel of the studio system. Cumberbatch misses it ever so slightly due to his youth, but in 10 years I think he could be hands-down the best. He's already the most entertaining.

I said..
who's Basil? Is that disney?
Re: Sherlock - BBC
I know what you said- I just ignored it!
And Basil Rathborne was cinemas most famous Sherlock- like Sherlock they were set in the present day (present being I think late 1930's through to the early 1950's when they were made).

I win..
(just kidding, I have no knowledge of any other Sherlocks than this one so I don't really know what I'm talking about)
Re: Sherlock - BBC
I think Brett made the best Holmes, the conan Doyle Holmes, I dont look at Cumberbatch as Holmes really, although he is wonderful and so is Martin, its the modern setting that does it, dont get me wrong he is an excellent Sherlock, but not the 'real' one in my imagination, for good or ill, I need London peas soupers and Peelers and ladies with bustles fainting into their lace hankies and dastardly moustache twiddling cads, I like the cliches.

I understand mrs. Figg, I'de probably would feel the same if I had watched/read it before BBC's new AMAZING series.

I think if I was born in 1896 too, Mrs Figg, I'm sure I'd feel exactly the same way as you do.

yes it was a rather good time to be born, I was still a teenager during the 20s, Art Deco was really the thing I remember the first automobiles trundling down the dusty Champs-Elysee, made the horses bolt when they sounded the horns, going at 10 miles an hour though was such a thrill.

What a coincidence! I still go at 10 miles an hour myself!

Re: Sherlock - BBC
My mom has been talking about wanting to re-watch series two now that it's being broadcast in the U.S. (I convinced her to watch both series back in January), but I had forgotten that it's tonight. We'll have to see about catching it.
