Nice! There's a lot of reason for hope here, after all the horrible rumors.

If this is chronological, my first question, does that look like the hilt of Glamdring in the first image? That wouldn't be right.

In the 3rd image there appear to be 3 trolls, and most importantly the dwarves appear to be tied in sacks and Bilbo sneaking into camp! Despite the battle scene we all saw earlier, this scene may be closer to the book than I'd feared.

5th image, the White Council doesn't look battle-ready by any means. Hopefully they're mostly just pondering and plotting, which could be a reasonable device to describe more of ME without having to do voice-over narration (I hope....)

6th image, Riddles in the Dark looks fine, though I don't see Gollum's boat.

7th image, Out of the Frying Pan into the Fire, those are actually burning fir trees, and the wargs look not only more wolflike than hyena, but they actually look werewolf, which gives me hope that they can sing "15 Birds in 5 Fir Trees". No goblins though.....

8th image, Beorn is a big silvertipped Grizzly, wise but easily angered and VERY scary, which in my opinion works very well. If that's the Carrock, I don't see any steps.

9th image, what are those steps behind Bilbo? Ruins in Mirkwood???? At least he's alone and scared with sting glowing, so maybe he's about to rescue the dwarves from spiders....I hope.....

10th image, Why are 13 travelers entering what appears to be Thranduil's castle apparently of their own free will without a guard??????

11th image, Bilbo seems to be the only one riding ON a barrel. The others appear to have just broken out ( I think I see a broken butt). That's not perfect, but closer to the book than I'd feared.

All together, that's not too bad. No zombie tombs or bunny sleds. This might work after all! cheers

PJ is just trying to fool us David, again!
No pics of Tauriel, no Nazgul in tombs, no shit-stained Radagast, no Necromancer, no dwarves riding pigs, no bunny sleds- dont for a moment think that craps not still there- he's just showing us images that more or less match up to iconic scenes in the book, he did the same with LotR's and look how that turned out Mad

- does not for one second mean he hasn't still arsed everything around about the images though!

Could be David now I've zoomed it- kind of defeats the point though if all the dwarves are out in the open though.

He already has Ally- Bad Taste-- a masterpiece of low budget comedy gore. Was very much a part of my mispent youth that film.
Will be no one happier than me if he does make a part one I like. I wouldn't bet on that happening though after LotR's.

Why are the trolls hiding? They should openly be round the fire and the dwarves hiding!

And 70% of the dwarves still just look like a bunch of blokes to me.

I'm not sure if they are the wargs or just wolves from that scene in the book its quite possible that they will have both in the scene but i do think it would be cool to have the wargs more wolf like

Glad to see Del Toro's influence in the warg designs. No more hyenas! Very Happy

All in all a very cool pic. It answers a few questions for us (esp. about the barrels being open) but more importantly it's a great teaser for part one. It definitely lends credence to the theory that part one ends with the barrel scene, too.

I got a better closeup of Gandalf's sword in the first image. The guard and grip do look like Glamdring.

In this case I'm guessing that all the dwarves are already armed at the beginning of the adventure as well, and only Bilbo has to arm himself from the troll horde.

This would involve skipping the stories of Glamdring and Orcrist to feature Sting, and would probably help focus on Bilbo's story. I hate to lose the stories, but it kind of makes sense for an adaptation.

Well that would explain why Glamdring doesn't glow in LotR's- not the same sword save in name!

I am really happy about these pictures. As said, the troll scene looks better than expected. The barrel out of bond also looks more promising (as it looks like they break out of the barrels on the river) and the wargs looks like freakin' superevil wolfs, and it looks like wc are gonna talk, not fight too much. A bit of a downer about Gandalf's sword, but as David H pointed out, it will not overshadow Bilbo's story, so I can live with that. I am happy!

Not sure if this was posted yet, but there is an even larger version of 'The Scroll' that was released. It's now up to roughly 8800 x 1200 pixels (up from about 6000) and looks even more glorious. Very Happy
