I'd love to have one of those but I can't justify dropping $25 for a t-shirt at the moment. I do like collecting t-shirts though, so I might try to pick it up eventually.

I heard a rumour that two of the dwarves will be gay, or at least, there will be a development in characterization to 'suggest' a gay relationship, 'implicit though not explicit" so as to "modernize Tolkien's stereotypical male portrayals." Shocked

How do you know that Tolkien didn't want one of them to be gay? Maybe even TOLKIEN didn't realize. You guys can't read between the lines. I mean lets look at the evidence; they walk around carrying a ton of musical instruments , this isn't GLEE CLUB Y'KNOW! They are all constantly bitching about Bilbo for like, the first 10 chapters. Then there's all that back on back action in the goblin caves, that dwarf obviously wanted to carry Bilbo, cos' I'm sure Gandalf would probably have been better at it Very Happy

interesting XD okay, nothing against gayness or anything, but do we really need to modernize everything these days?
well, as long as it is still "between the lines" in the movie as well, not spelled with capital letters all through the movie, I guess it's fine. it can probably be interpret either way Wink

please no, Dumbledore gay, now dwarves too? its all a bit pc touchy-feely for my liking. At least Rowling meant him to be gay, Tolkien didnt.

Yes but surely thats only an error that can be maintained so long? I mean once they are past first base (Light Beard Petting) surely beard or not you'd soon find out which sort of dwarf you had got a hold of!

That would seem about right for Laketown- touch of Venice in the tall narrow buildings design. When there is no land to build sideways on you build upwards.

Not quite how I imagined it, but infinitely better than the Mediterranean-looking Dale photos we got. Yeah, I know Venice is still Mediterranean-ish, but this is at least closer to my mental image for the region. I was rather hoping for a more Northern European vibe though. The filmmakers used Mediterranean styles to great effect for Gondor, but Dale and Lake-town are two of the most northerly locations in all of Tolkien's stories. I feel like there should be a different architectural style for them. Still, the latest photo is pretty good; I can be okay with that. Smile
