Looking at that pic again I believe we may be seeing the middle of a joke. With a befuddled Bilbo, not even properly dresssed (as if Mr Bilbo Bagins esq would ever not get properly dressed of a morning! ) caught between a mute signng dwarf and one that can't hear.

well, Martin Freeman has big ears so the "extra-hobbit"-ears must be bigger...btw, I don't think they look big. Someone mentioned he had big feet too. Well he's a hobbit.

Need a lore check but I don't think Tolkien ever described them as having big feet, just hairy ones and they went unshod. Is the biog feet not one of the many things PJ nicked from Bakshi's version?

it could be some sort of tool. Big feet makes people look smaller, and when u only have Gandalf to remind the audience that Bilbo is small, well.. then big feet isn't so stupid.

Yes Hobbits do not have large feet... at least Tolkien himself didn't describe that they did, nor draw them that way (unless there's something new in the new book). The Stoors were noted as having larger hands and feet than the Harfoots, but were also broader and heavier in build in any case.

I believe that they are starting filming again this week, so maybe we will get another blog soon, I hope so as I remember PJ saying that there would be more at the start of the new year, and it is the start of the year, indeed its been the start of the year for ages now. also I believe Quint has more stuff in the pipeline but yet again nowt for ages.
