I can't imagine Margot Robbie topping or indeed equalling her performance in Suicide Squad. She was the only reason to watch that mash-up, a real tour-de-force of acting. I think she's the best of her generation.

The first 'Peter Rabbit' film disappointed me hugely. It was pure cheese on cheese and this one looks no better IMO.

I would not have picked this as a Ghostbuster trailer.

I am looking forward to a few films this year.

1917 looks good.
Top Gun: Maverick... even if it sucks I wanna see it.
Bad Boys for Life.
Coming 2 America.
A Quiet Place: Part 2

Possibly Wonder Woman 1984... if it is shit then 1.5 hours of Gal Gadot is a winner.

Interested in Bill and Ted Face the Music. Also might be interested in Godzilla vs Kong but neither at the cinema.

I saw 1917, it was pretty darn awesome. The extensive use of long-takes that follow our main characters through the battlefields are an immersive delight unto the senses.

We got a trailer out for Dune.  Can't get much of a read out of it except that they seem to be hewing closely to Herbert's dialogue, which is good.  But the voiceover of Baron Harkonnen sounds forced basso, not real.  Throws off the feeling when it sounds like stage acting.

Looking at the cast in IMBD, I'm not fond of Timothy Chalumet playing Paul.   I just can't see this guy projecting an aura of power.  I've mentioned my complaints about Jason Mamoa playing Duncan before.

We see casting for Beast Rabban, but not Feyd Ruatha or Count Fenring.  I hope that's just an oversight.  The flim is split in two parts so perhaps Feyd is not introduced until the Count is introduced in the slave pit scene.  The Baron is addressing Feyd at the beginning voiceover, but they may have cut it so he has little or no speaking parts so is not mentioned as yet.

Have to say I prefer Lynch's desert shots (sandy red) to Deneneuve's (dusty grey).

Edit: I see Chalamet played Henry V in Netflix's The King. I may have to walk back my comment about him projecting power.

It's unfortunate that The King is such a mediocre movie, on the whole.

I just started reading Dune for the first time, but I've watched some of this guy's stuff: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1rFmaGLYr0Ve_Y_soxZNWQ

He's been anticipating this release with an admirable fervour. One hopes, for the sake of the fans, that the new film will not disappoint.

Perhaps after reading the book(s) you'll have the same fervor. Do not under any circumstances watch any of the prior film attempts at Dune. Lynch starts out pretty well but goes sideways. The TV series never really gelled: faithful but sub par. I'm really hoping both the new films and TV series will finally live up to the promise.

Having finished Dune, I can say firmly that I am not looking forward to the movie based on the merits of the book. I found it a tedious thing to get through, with too much time spent on fatalistic predictions. None of the characters are likeable.

I watched that Dune trailer posted up above here. That's fan-made and not real.

Except for Jessica I agree the characters aren't likable, though I find the Baron to be weirdly captivating.  The genius of Dune is in the ideas rather than the characters: "witches" who operate by highly trained body and mind rather than magic; an empire based on addiction; oracular power which is nonetheless murky; a future feudal society with culturally sanctioned duels and assassination; the demands of the desert and of course the sandworm.

I predict that with time you'll find the images and themes will stick with you and you'll find yourself drawn back despite your current distaste.  I may be wrong, but most people circle back to it despite their first impressions.

Okay, so this one seems real, though I haven't found confirmation the last one was fan made.

Edit: okay, this one isn't real either. But they got some actors in there.
