I looked for it in both!- Ringo

{{ Its often not out on display, but behind the counter for extra security- you have to ask for it. Especially if your in a larger store like a co-op. In a proper Glasgow off-license, you can't miss those, look like corner shops only with bars and grills over them and the counter is behind protective glass and more bars. Nod Buckie selling is a dangerous job not for the faint hearted!- they always have it. }}

Well maybe you should have told him all this before he came to Glasgow. In the US if the cigarettes are behind the counter at least you can still see them!

But perhaps it's like buying postage stamps around here - so many have them but there's no display anywhere. You just have to know to ask.

{{ Its very dependent on the store, and its location.
For example you might get a coop has an asiles for bevvy, but no buckfast. But it does have buckfast, cheap vodka and the like behind the counter. Where another one might it have it on open display in a better area with the rest of the wine, or in a very bad area they might decide to not sell it at all to save trouble.
Off-licenses will nearly always have it. There are two that I know used to sell it within minutes of Glasgow Central Train Station, one right outside the entrance and the other under the railway bridge- in those cases both are just newsagents, but with a license to sell alcohol- those are the most common sorts of places to buy it. }}

Say Petty - I see there's a Scottish made equivalent called El Dorado. How's that stack up?

Like paintstripper mixed with vinegar. Its very popular among jakies as its even cheaper than buckie. But it lacks the buckie kick due to the added caffeine. It can't compare. }}

How'd we switch from maple syrup to East Asia? But it doesn't look crowded enough to be East Asia.

Except that they have enough money to buy Sauron's tower....

It isnt actually too crowded given how big the city in that picture is. I'm sure it has its moments though.

Also... why do you think there could maybe possibly by espionage going on? Saurons tower is here...

Anyone heard from Eldy recently? Hope our resident Loremistress is doing ok.

(And yes, I realise the irony of that question coming from me, who floats in and out of the forum randomly every few weeks...)

I'm off on Friday for the land of my forebears (well, half of them). Yep, back to ol' Minnesota for nine days with my girlfriend. Also my mom will be back there at the same time, not of my choosing, but that's the hand I've been dealt.

Wish me luck! And for there to be no Corona on the airplane lol
