I just watched that scene for old times sake and it seems oddly staged, almost like the actors were directed to walk as 'epic' as possible and leave deliberate gaps for Shire's music to blare.

Maybe I'm just a bit grumpy today...

Shame Gandalf didn't offer him his staff or horse (come to think of it, what happened to Boromir/Legolas's horses?)...it also seems a little odd that (IIRC) in the movie those at the council are summoned directly by Elrond (which raises the question how long Frodo and co had been in Rivendell in the movie) and arrive more or less at the same time, yet Elrond doesn't think/intervene to send any weapons or men of his own... scratch confused

(I also like the idea of the ring being laid bare on the table for all to see, and a Magpie swooping down and nicking it due to its shinyness)

Going back to this scene, I was browsing reddit earlier and someone claimed that Legolas's line 'You have my bow' is the only time he talks to Frodo directly in the entire trilogy, extended edition's included.

Those are probably from a google site, so can only be seen if logged into google. I can view them in chrome, but not other browsers.

I certainly don't remember any other time.

Let's see... It's been too long since I've read the books for me to recall occasions when Legolas speaks to Frodo. There must be a few places of course.

I remember Gimli speaking directly to Merry "I know what a hobbit's foot looks like" but other than that I don't remember either him or Legolas directly addressing or responding to any of the hobbits. This will take some thought.

Wasn't Gimli talking to the Hobbits as they were entering the woods of Lorien?

We are discussing Legolas or Gimli directly addressing the hobbits. But as for the video clips, neither of those scenes happened in the books.

Am I correct in thinking that the colour of Legolas hair is not mentioned in the books ? so, what IF he was dark ? Very Happy

Yep, never mentioned. I always thought of him as brunette. It was PJ that turned him into an airhead, with some prompting by the brothers Hildebrand.

He definitely looks like a Winter Fairy in that outfit & the faces on the Hobbits are disturbingly, children which, for me doesn't denote youth it denotes perv.

I've never been a fan of the Hildebrands. Aragorn looks like a pirate king. Gimli's wearing an alpine hat. Gandalf is the only one that is somewhat acceptable.

Yes, it is so out of whack. Its like an amalgamation of all of Hans Christian's Fairy Tales.

Isengard. Merry and Pippin made Gimli and Legolas somthing to eat and then went outside for a smoke. Quite a bit of interaction between the Hobbits, dwarf and elf. hi
