Re: Doctor Who [12]
Found it rather dull. No real sense of excitement or interest. Colour me completely unconcerned for any of the characters. No mystery about whats going to happen, it's sign-posted all the way through with less than subtle hints every five minutes.
The basic idea could have and should have been used to tell a much better story than this. Perhaps the second part will be better. I'm really doubting it.

Re: Doctor Who [12]
Oh, I can get my revenge.
Back in college, three of us were looking at the moon.
Jeanie said: "It looks like the face of a man in agony."
I said: "It looks like an odd cosmic mirror of the earth - I see north and south America"
We were all wrapped up in our romantic imaginings, until Dan said:
"It looks like E.T."
Damn thing is, it does look exactly like Spielberg's E.T., and once you've seen it you can't unsee it. That was nearly 3 decades ago, and I think we've still never forgiven Dan.

Re: Doctor Who [12]
Yeah they are superbly done.
Moffat talking to Variety- few snippets I thought wer eof importance-
'(Moffat) is already at work on series 10, which, he confirmed, will again star Peter Capaldi as the Doctor.'
'To the next generation, they no longer watch television when they are supposed to any more than they would allow the bookcase to tell them when they can read.'
'“Doctor Who” is the all-time perfectly evolved television show. It’s a television predator designed to survive any environment because you can replace absolutely everybody. Most shows you can’t do that with. For example, once Benedict Cumberbatch gives up “Sherlock,” what are we going to do? We are going to stop, that’s what we are going to do. Most shows have a built-in mortality. But here is a show that sheds us all like scales; a show that can make you feel everything except indispensable. It will carry on forever, because you can replace every part of it.'
'It is definitely going to last five more years, I’ve seen the business plan. It’s not going anywhere. And I think we can go past that. It’s television’s own legend. It will just keep going.'
'Peter Capaldi is going nowhere.'

He isn't. He was responding to direct questions on each topic from the questioner. I just didn't include the questions just the replies that's all.

Re: Doctor Who [12]
I don't like all these self-congratulatory commentaries on the shows success. It's showbiz politics, full of bluster and aggrandizement. He's clearly selling something.

Re: Doctor Who [12]
I dont see how what he says can be taken to be 'puffing himself up'- he is puffing the show up not himself- made explicit in the line-
'here is a show that sheds us all like scales; a show that can make you feel everything except indispensable.'
He just called himself dispensable because the show is bigger than any one person involved- whether that's the stars of it or the showrunners.

All Moffat needs to do now to both complete his masterplan to combine classic and NU Who and be rid of the English is bring back Jamie as the new companion.

Re: Doctor Who [12]
Moffat and Capladi have both separately commented on the rumours series 10 will be specials, or half length, and on the current series transmission time of post 8pm-
Moffat on series 10- 'Series 10 of Doctor Who will consist of 12 episodes plus a Christmas Special. It’s not being reduced in size. We’re not making fewer episodes. That’s all complete bunk. I can confirm that absolutely.'
Capaldi on series 10 being shorter- 'That's not what I've been told. That's not what I'm contracted for.'
Moffat on current scheduling for series 9 in relation to reports of a small drop off in UK overnight viewing figures- 'I don’t think 8.25pm is brilliant for Doctor Who. If there’s a slight, and it’s only a slight, drop off, it’s I think, that’s not where Doctor Who’s meant to be. Doctor Who’s not designed and built to go out at 8.25pm. It’s for earlier in the evening. We’re doing fine, once you put the consolidated and then if you do the wicked thing that you’re not supposed to do of adding on iPlayer as well, we’re doing fine.'
Capaldi on the transmission time- ' I feel it’s slightly used as a pawn in a Saturday night warfare. I feel as if it should go out at 7.30pm or around that time.
I see a lot of kids and a lot of families and these families who all love Doctor Who want to sit down and watch it together. Once you get past 8.15pm, you’re getting yourself into adult territory and although a lot of adults really like it, at its heart, it’s designed to do a lot of entertaining of children as well. So I think it begins to move into a zone it doesn’t quite belong in.'
I agree on that last point by them both- no idea why the BBC scheduled this series so late in the evening. They should have moved Strictly back a bit and had Who as its lead in- not the other way round. Its stupid.
