That would make sense as the first two are the real LotR's ripoffs and would be seen as such if they adapted them.

Those are the same editions I have Chris (well up to Wishsong- that was where I'd had enough).

No this is dead serious- which does make it even worse.

This is so camp its good. it actually has some great British actors in it, and it won awards for the music.

With Elfstones. Though so far the "farmboy in a remote rural area is given his father's old weapon and discovers that his father was a famous war hero" plot so far feels more like Star Wars than LOTR. I'm told that Sword is more directly LOTR-based.

My 20 odd year old memory of Sword is- young innocent in an isolated idyllic village is visited by a mysterious wizard type (but he's middle aged not old) and there is a chapter where he tells young innocent all about the history of the big bad and the Sword, and then go off on their quest but are pursued by nasty creatures in black. I cant even remember what the twist on the LotR's tale was, but it was weak- I think it was that instead of taking a magical object to place x and destroy it. They have to go to place x to get magic item.

Or D'Artagnan from 3 Musketeers, or any of a hundred others. It's a well plowed field. Razz
I read Sword years ago when someone said, "Oh, you love Tolkien? You'll love this too!" It would have been better if they'd left me to make the comparison for my self. Suspect

The guy in the bottom gif looks and sounds like an Ork.

Looking forward to seeing the Gnomes, will they look like the ones in the garden ?

The gut on the right of that gif was the one who played Azog in The Hobbit.

It's neat that the demons have a variety of designs but yeah, the Dagda Mor looks like he wandered over from a Mordor set.

I mean ... I had fun but it's hard to imagine this show being more than a guilty pleasure. Kinda curious if it will remain even that when episode five airs on the 26th. The three week gap might end up having dulled my interest.

Read the books so i'l watch it out of curiosity. Don't watch any other series since the Strain series 2 finished.

Been watching a bunch of Black Sails (pirate series) since Starz put it online for free as a promotion for the upcoming premiere of the third season. It's been pretty fun so far though definitely kinda trashy in that HBO violence and nudity way, and a bit overcomplicated with the sheer amount of characters and scheming.

Not the story I remember. It looks like they are adding some "female energy". No

No. I suppose since this is a series not a movie they have to get away from the original, which was about as male oriented as the Hobbit. If it was just a retelling of the original there's not nearly as many women involved as that trailer shows.

I just dont get this -stick some women in there- mentality. Are we going to see Little Women done as Little Boys next? I bet we dont.
