As funnily enough I actually want to enjoy watching Who again.- Figg

That's how I've been feeling since the Amy era began. There has been some glimmers of joy, but I don't really look forward to an episode anymore.

I cant say I am convinced of that- I think you sit down to watch already sure you will hate it because its Moffat- I'll be surprised if you ever like any Who outside of RTD.
:

Balderdash! there have been quite a few Moffat episodes I quite like, in an understated, 'well that wasn't too painful' kind of way. Neutral admittedly they were all in the Smith era apart from 'Flatliners', that was pretty good and showed some promise. But there again I don't think Moffat wrote that one so maybe it doesn't count.

Here, don't go doing that. Mad I only drove the elephants through the thread to annoy Petty. We can't have people shooting elephants in Forumshire without any semblance of due process.

I hereby call for the admin, or the mayor if he's around, to declare elephants a protected species in Forumshire. Nod

You know, here's me thinking these Forumshire courts might need some restructuring too. (That is if they're actually run by kangaroos.) Suspect

We think they're goofy cuddly critters, but look at the muscles on that torso. Would not like to be on his bad side.

scratch Wow it's a zoo in here! So nothing out of the ordinary. Nod

I've been stressing to get the house ready for my daughters eight birthday, had 12 or so kids here (um.. I tried to count them, really I did...) yesterday and we're having the family over today. Haven't had time to think about Who, but oh how I hope it gets better this season!

how I hope it gets better this season!- Amarie

If so then I'm in for a treat considering I would rate series 8 as among the very best series of NuWho and a contender for best series overall. Only 2 slightly dodgy episodes for me, Gatiss', so no change there, and Forest of the Night, which failed but failed trying something innovative and fresh- outside of those two loved every other minute of it, if we get better than Listen, Flatline, Mummy on the Orient press, Dark Water ect this year I will be very happy indeed.

Got a full house tonight for Who- munchies and buckie at the ready! bounce bounce bounce bounce

slap laugh  season 8 was the weakest of the whole of the history of Dr Who and that includes ALL of it. There was zero charisma between the Doctor and the companion, the plots were boring clunky messes, the writing was weak to poor, and it was all rehashed in a flashy hyped-up way, hoping no one would notice. I did.

Fortunately I'm watching with folk of a different opinion- especially of the dynamic between 12 and Clara, and the quality and inventiveness of the plots, and how well the writing played out several disparate layered themes before bringing them satisfyingly together in the finale. We all noticed that. Nod

6/10 from me as a fan-I'm not sure how that would go down with casual fans, as it was full of callbacks and references, fantastic start, great performances from Capaldi (I liked that they've mellowed Capaldi's abrasiveness just a little...if he continues to play the doctor along these lines, he's definitely going to push Hartnell into second place for me Nod ...) and Gomez (though for some reason I thought Coleman overacted a bit?)  the new characters were cool, and certainly a bold move tackling a moral dilemma like that in the opening episode.

On the downside I felt even as part one of two it felt padded and meandering, it sagged a bit in the middle-overly talky for a season opener with some truly cringy grandad esque jokes, the
SPOILER:
made me roll my eyes as we've seen it so often in Moffat's who, the subplots didn't really lead anywhere and the actual main plot...wasn't very plotty, honestly...I enjoyed it alot, but I'm not going to judge until we see part 2, as so far it came across a very clear build up rather than separate episode...and a very Moffaty one at that...

I'm not at all surprised they didn't explain how

A mixed, but enjoyable bag and a pretty promising start.

Dat Cliffhanger though  Shocked

The most surprising thing about that for me was all the rumours reported by the Daily Mirror were true! Shocked Fingers crossed those other rumours about the finale are true bounce bounce bounce

It's on the Iplayer (are you living in the UK at the moment?, I don't know how far abroad you can acess it)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b06dpx8x/doctor-who-series-9-1-the-magicians-apprentice

(Honestly...I'm not sure if you'd like it...and it was definitely a part 1 of 2 episode i.m.o (i.e mostly build up and padding before we get to the real story next week)

So, aside from handling the judiciary the kangaroos are also handling law enforcement? Which should really be the domain of the executive branch of the government? Shocked God, our political system is a mess.

Someone needs to sit down and flesh out a proper constitution for this place. With some proper safeguards for separation of power.
