Re: Game of Thrones [2]
That trailer still contains too much of the crap that I hated about last season.
MOST NOTABLY, fatty-fat-fat-idiot-bum-tard's face not being thrown off the nearest precipice or fed to giant rats. (I mean Ramsay Bolton, obviously.)
And just stupid bullshit lines that will probably not lead anywhere, like Sansa talking about how all she thinks about is what happened to her family. Like, no duh, what a surprise. Will Sansa be doing anything about that any time this century? Probably not.

I will bet...
What can I bet...
I will take a picture of myself
If she becomes the current ruler of Winterfell (like she's living there and in-control of it as the heir to the Starks), I will write a 1000-word dissertation on all the different ways that I was wrong about Sansa and her story arc and about how Mrs Figgs was right and post it in the Creative section of this forum.
And if instead Sansa doesn't do or become any of that, and she instead suffers some more abuse from someone, than I'm going to put "Mrs Figg agrees that Sansa sucks!" in my Signature.
Agreed?

One of these days I'll start compiling Forumshire quotes. But I've missed cataloging so many it would depress me to start.

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
D&D touch on the question of how much longer the show has by basically repeating what they said last year. Probably end in eight seasons, possibly the final two will be shorter than normal.
http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/game-of-thrones-end-date-season-8-1201752746/
While this has been the most likely outcome for a couple years now, the more I think about this in light of S5 and what we know of S6, the more convinced I am that the show will end in a total clusterfuck. I mean, last year we had S5, and while it cut out a lot of the slow-moving stuff from the fourth and fifth books, it added a whole bunch of pointless filler bullshit of its own. Now S6 is going back and resurrecting some of those ideas from books four and five to throw into the current season. There will of course be some stuff happening ahead of the book's current timeline, but there's no reason to expect they're gonna be zooming forward. Best case scenario is Dany arrives in Westeros in the second half of this season, quite possibly not until the last episode, if it happens this season at all.
There's no way in hell they can offer a satisfying conclusion to the myriad of plot threads they've developed in the time frame they're talking about. The White Walkers still haven't even reached the Wall, much less got past it! I don't believe for a second that GRRM will be able to finish the story in two more books, and even though I get that the show has a smaller scope, D&D seem set on getting out soon. HBO is begging them to take longer but I doubt we'll get more than, at maximum, the final two seasons being full length ones, for a total of 80 episodes. I guess what I'm saying is strap in for more fuckery because the story structure is gonna be shot all to hell.
When all is said and done I imagine people will look back at the Red Wedding at the end of S3 and be like "yeah, the showrunners really stopped caring about a lot of stuff after this point."

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
why would anyone on the biz stop caring about a show that put them in the A league? Its their reputations on the line, any clusterfucks or backlash will not do them any good if they want more big budget shows. As regards tv this is their chance to give cinema a run for its money, no way will they lose their grip. These people are ambitious from the get go, they thought big.

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
They've been working on this since 2006. A decade spent with the same story is enough to make anyone tired. Look at PJ post-LOTR, or hell, look at Martin even despite the number of side-projects he has to help keep things fresh. D&D have talked about the Red Wedding being a big part of why they wanted to do the show so I'm not just guessing on that. But in any event, look at the amount of plot movement over any 23 episode stretch of the show. There is too much left to resolve for them to do a satisfactory job unless they crank the pacing into overdrive, which will come with its own issues. But the truly bizarre thing is that they still seem in no hurry to get to the conclusion (what with bringing back stuff from books four and five that they'd previously skipped), which makes me think they'll actually just jump around abruptly instead of necessarily being fast paced while barreling down on the conclusion.
As for TV vs movies ... Benioff and Weiss have already announced that they're moving on to cinema for their next project once GOT is done. They mentioned that publicly two years ago, but they won't be able to focus on it until after GOT is done since the show is basically a year-round commitment.

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
Just to elaborate on my earlier point, ASOS was the end of the "first act" of the overall ASOIAF series (roughly where the first book would have ended if Martin had kept it a trilogy). AFFC and ADWD were the first part of the second act. This is why the idea that the series will be wrapped up in only two more books is ludicrous. Martin's pacing has gotten slower, not faster. It would have to become vastly faster to meet his current goal.
The TV show took four seasons to get through the "first act" and is still going through "second act" material in season six. Even acknowledging that each "act" doesn't have to be the same length, the idea that they can finish the story in only 13 more episodes after this season without making huge sacrifices (either in the form of abandoning plotlines, fucking over the pacing, or both) is beyond me. Show watches won't have waited six years to see Dany's invasion of Westeros happen at the 11th hour before everything is wrapped up.
If Dany ends up in Westeros in episode five or six of this season, or earlier, then I will admit that I'm wrong on this. But we know from set reports during filming of this season that
so I'm feeling fairly confident about my predictions

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
Three new clips, though technically from a few days ago. Looks like HBO gave them a blank check for this season; production values are insane. No spoilers that couldn't be inferred from the finale of season five.
Re: Game of Thrones [2]
nice clips. The Sansa one is quite thrilling.

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
I'm not sure if I'd go that far, but Ramin Djawadi is consistently great, and his work on GOT has been excellent.

Season 5 History and Lore videos are up to YouTube (unofficially). Haven't seen the whole thing myself yet but the first four seasons' worth were fantastic.
