Once in a long while Petty will post something while not under intoxication. Can't cypher out a word of it. Do you become more or less cryptic under intoxication, Ally? And can you get buckie where you come from?

I like how the author points out the Hobbit as more than a children's story; it's a myth, sub creation. He seems to have a good deal of respect for Tolkien which I admire; contrast that with Billy Connolly calling it unreadable. The author knows what Jackson is doing to the Hobbit is wrong. Good read. Smile
P.S.
I haven't seen Troy with Brad Pitt, but that sounds bad.

Brad pitt is Achilles and Angelina Jolie is his mother (he should have been Oedipus Very Happy ).
Good article that, thoughtful and the author obviously cares about the subject.
I dont know why an actor like Connolly, who doesn't need to do it for the money, would take a part on based on a book he thinks is unreadable.

Billy Connoly's statements are symptomatic of a problem I see. There's doesn't seem to be the same kind of love for the source material this time around. I'm mean I don't recall any of the actors from lotr saying they actively disliked the book they were filming.
Maybe it's because last time no one thought that lotr was going to be a box office hit and now, ten years later, every celebrity is jumping on this cash cow.

I might have to see that movie now. Shocked

Was she?- I might be mixing two really bad films that look much the same together here then. In which case I couldnt recommend either- they are both so bad I can no longer tell them apart.

Actually, I love Brad's opening scene where he takes down a giant warrior with a sort of angry nonchalance. There's some nice epic set pieces, some ass kissing of hollywood stereotypes; I wouldn't rate it as either a particularly good or bad movie. Between Brad's opening snuff scene and Diane Kruger's naked derriere I'd call it a solid dude flick.

Both films from I recall looked the part-suitably epic and all that- it was the tale telling I seemed to remember was pretty ropey.
More hollywood than historical lets say.
