Re: Tales of Home [6]
I was looking at doing another challenge in 2016, one of the husky dog ones. One started from Tromso which made me think of you Norcy.
Have been told you get covered in dog shit for 5 days though so not sure that is the right challenge for me.

Re: Tales of Home [6]
Very pretty.
It snowed pretty heavily (for Maryland in November) the day before Thanksgiving, and even layered, but within 24 hours it had almost all melted.

Re: Tales of Home [6]
Yeah, we've had it cold here for a while now. So hopefully it'll stick around and we'll get a proper winter this year.
You've mentioned having snow before, I think. But also it getting quite hot around your parts. Is snow normal for a Maryland winter?

Re: Tales of Home [6]
Having lived there, I can say you get a few snowfalls a year, and most of them melt in less than 2 days; one might keep the ground covered for most of a week. A white christmas is maybe 1 day out of 4.

Re: Tales of Home [6]
Last year we had snow on the ground non-stop for like three months, maybe longer, but that was the harshest winter of my lifetime. Unfortunately they're calling for another bad one this year. But I'd say for at least three of the last five winters, we've had two or fewer major snowfalls the entire season ("major" meaning like ... an inch), none of which stuck around for very long. Usually those come in January or February; having snow before then is (or used to be) rare. Keep in mind that we're on the latitude of southern Spain here, and even without the Gulf stream moving away from us, Baltimore is still technically subtropical (though we're sort of on the border between subtropical and temperate).
Re: Tales of Home [6]
The whole common room smells of Fur and what not. They're trying on costumes because theyll sing misty mpuntains on the premier. Huffjuff said he would dress as an orc, but then he realized he sings first tenor...
Re: Tales of Home [6]
They're doing Misty Mountains for the Hobbit premiere? That's pretty cool.
Now who's idea was that? It does sound like something you would orchestrate.

Ah, ok. I guess I would prefer the harsh or bad three month one to the on and off one, but I guess it also depends on what you're used to and prepeared for.

Re: Tales of Home [6]
yeah.. maybe... or just.. gurgly noises. anyway, dear hufflepuff here has a very nice, soft singing voice, more elvish than dwarvish actually..Pettytyrant101 wrote:Huffjuff said he would dress as an orc, but then he realized he sings first tenor...- Norc

Re: Tales of Home [6]
it's kinda wintery here too.. we have even less snow, but it's colder, so it stays and the roads are icy..
