Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
Still haven't seen series 3, not sure If I can be bothered, 2017 dosen't sound too dramatic i.m.o, I don't think its a case of finishing the scripts, more a scheduling thing, it takes about a month to film an episode afaik-Cumberbatch will probably be tied up in endless Marvel Sequels, Moffat will be busy trolling doctor who fans, and Martin Freeman will be...swearing at cameramen I guess?

Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
Yeah, they are obviously super busy. (Although a senior person at the BBC told the press it was a good thing they were making less Doctor Who episodes as Moffat would have more time to spend on Sherlock. ) Three years is still a long time to wait in an ongoing series though. (I felt it was almost egregious at 2.)

Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
I enjoyed that clip from the special. A feeling of cautious optimism is starting to creep back in...
Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
Anyone else watch the panel yet?
Few things I thought were worth a mention or discussion- in particular what he says about the end of Scandal, and the extra scene he wrote for himself about what happened next (I feel it should have been in the episode myself- as despite the director going over and over to get the perfect reaction that encapsulated the message "I win" from Irene, I never felt that was clear enough in the episode- and that extra scene would have left it in no doubt and saved Moffat a lot of grief).
Also his description of the writing process, as paranoia and self doubt and of fans I thought were worth a listen to.
That and he is just very, very funny throughout.

I thought I read somewhere that the whole season would be Victorian, or at least it was a Moffet quote taken out of context...
Is this special for Christmas? And then is the new season coming afterwards?

Ok cool!
Hasn't it been two years already though since last season? Or am I imagining things here...
OR is it just taking forever because everyone's busy being busy?

Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
Yeah its just scheduling. Plus Freeman and Cumberbatch are basically taking a pay cut these days to do it. They could now command much more than what they signed on to make Sherlock for. So it seems more a matter of fitting it in than it having their priority- which is fair enough.
And Moffat has been (and still is) doing series 9 of Who as well of course.

Looks good. Only Moffat can screw this up. I really hope this special is self contained and is not connected to the modern day series in some goofy way.

Getting hyped despite myself (and despite S3). I really want this to be good. Looks like a lot of fun so far.

I'd hate to be Moffat- people say this about him even when they are talking about a show they like in the first place because he made it and wrote it! Talk about taking all the shit and getting none of the credit!

Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
Well, here's the thing. I say that because I know Cucumber Boy and Bilbo Baggins can deliver great performances if they have the right material to work with. It's up to the showrunner(s) to make sure it doesn't all fall to shit. I mean, come on, the Doctor Who series 8 finale was incredibly disappointing, but episode 4 "Listen" was fantastic. Moffat can deliver some great episodes, and quite a few stinkers, unfortunately.
This is all my opinion.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
I agree. when he is good as in season 1 and 2 of Sherlock he was pretty damn good, but 3 was a stinker. I do have issues with his Irene Adler too. She was horribly sexualised and diminished by Moffat but apart from that I really enjoy Sherlock, and its mainly the acting which lifts it up into another level. I think its the greatness of the acting which make it so watchable. give lesser actors the same dialogue and I doubt it would have cult following.
