Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
Given how often in the past they have deliberately feed and wound up the fans I dont find it very surprising they would do this to get promotion and traction for the episodes.
Besides we will never see a Who/Shelrock cross over unless its maybe a one off charity thing, as Moffat as stated several times that in the Whoverse Holmes has long been established as a fictional character, and secondly he thinks it would be boring a you'd just have two of the smartest people with two of the universes largest egos trying to outsmart each other for an hour.

Don't worry, it will be in an alternative time line so it doesn't matter what happens or what has been established before.

Moffat on season 4.

"Of course, it's far too early to say what's coming, but we're reasonably confident that the very next thing to happen to Sherlock and John, is the very last thing you'd expect ... " teased Steven Moffat to the BBC.
"We’re going to try to take it somewhere we’ve never been before — and I don’t mean outer space," teased Moffat when speaking to Entertainment Weekly. "It will be challenging place to go. We always start with a re-introduction that builds toward a darker climax — we might just be going darker [from the outset]. We got a very, very good set of ideas."
"We have a plan to top [Season 3]," said Moffat. "And I do think our plan is devastating. We’ve practically reduced our cast to tears telling them the plan … we’re probably more excited that we’ve ever been about Sherlock."
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Moffat was if the new season can top season 3 and his reply was exciting and ominous. “We have a plan to top it. And I do think our plan is devastating. We’ve practically reduced our cast to tears telling them the plan … we’re probably more excited that we’ve ever been about Sherlock.”

Oh dear... I was worried what Moffat's fanfiction rip-offs would lead to.
Obviously matchmaker!Sherlock has lead sensitivenipples!Mycroft somewhere cold and given him a frappe instead of hot mocca latte, so now Mycroft's nipples are all chilled and perky needing some attention from mustache!Watson.
Just look at the picture again, you know I am right.
fake edit: And after reading Blue's post, I still think I am right. The crew simply miss the old notfanfic!Sherlock.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
Yeah, I guess as unimpressed as you guys were with season 3 the last thing you would want is more of the same. Whether that tops it or not. But they're also talking of taking it in a new direction so.. idk.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
Hard to judge from one picture whats going on- but given Gatiss is there and does not appear to be in costume in any fashion I am going to hazard a guess this is the Gatiss penned episode.
Personally I hope for a series to top series 2 which I think is the best of them.
Although I saw the final episode of series 3 again and I still say its as good as the majority of eps in series 1 and 2.

Hah, I remember that. They filmed it at Blindern. The physics building mostly, and the farmasi building for a bit. It's all so recognisable.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
Are you guys negative about Sherlock ? I cant fucking wait fornyer christmas spesial
Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
I don't remember if I'd seen that NRK parody before but it's great.
And yes Norc, I'll definitely watch the Christmas special, but my expectations are very low after S3. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised, though.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
I still have high hopes for the new stuff- I am not a fan of eps 1 and 2 of the last series but the final episode was as good as anything before it- so for me they returned to form before the end of the last series.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
I thought S3E3 was the best of last season by a considerable margin but still not as good as most of the first two seasons (The Blind Banker notwithstanding). Season two was a masterpiece though so I'm not going to write the show off after one disappointing season.
Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
Season two had Baskerville in it- I thought that was pretty weak myself.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
There were enjoyable bits in the Baskerville episode, but the core of the story was rather silly.

Of all the Sherlock stories its the least suited to being modernised.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [4]
The entire premise of Sherlock Holmes is silly if you get right down to it. I thought that the Baskerville episode was very effective in its creepiness. Given how short the seasons were, I really appreciated the chance to just follow the characters as they try to solve a mystery, without any world-shaking plots or life-altering consequences cropping up for once. Don't get me wrong, the episodes with those things are great too, but they can only happen so often before I want to see what the characters are up to when the world isn't ending. Those sort of everyday stories are the bread and butter for a lot of TV, and I think it's actually one of TV's biggest advantages over movies. You have the time to explore the lives of the characters in a lot more detail. For as short as the seasons of Sherlock are, I was really glad they took the opportunity to do that. (The Blind Banker tried something similar, of course, but I didn't care too much for that one.) I thought that they took a really interesting tactic in modernizing that particular story, and Gatiss is absolutely right about how the things that we find scary are different now than a century ago, making the government conspiracy angle highly effective. Plus it had some really nice location shooting and solid character moments with Sherlock and John.
I know that I'm very much in the minority with this opinion, but I honestly can't recall most of the criticisms of the episode because it aired about three years ago. But I'd be happy to read any of you guys' thoughts on it.
