Re: Future releases [2]
Got a newsletter from HBO Nordic today with information about new shows - apparently a show named "Fargo" based on a movie with the same name from 1996 will be available from april 23rd. Among others Martin Freeman and Bob Odenkirk (Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad) will star in it, so I'm definitely watching the first episode Anyone seen the film in question? Probably worth watching before the show airs!

Yes, Fargo is a Coen Brothers film, set in Minneapolis and Brainerd Minnesota, and Fargo North Dakota. If you haven't seen it you should watch it.
It's a wonderful black comedy thriller with a great soundtrack and wonderful performances. For anyone who has lived in Minnesota you'll notice that the accents are overdone at times, but there are people who do talk like that.

I haven't seen Fargo, but I've heard mostly good things about it (except for my mom, who was apparently traumatized by a scene involving a woodchipper ).

It sounds almost Scottish to me.

My dad hates the movie, but he's never even seen the whole thing. I don't know how a member of the NRA who has supported so many recent wars would be adverse to a little violence in a movie. It's fake, dad, get over it.

Thumbs up for Fargo
I'll say one thing.
When it came out, millions of people thought there had actually been such a crime, based on the introduction.
NO! The Cohen Bros were joking, as usual.

Re: Future releases [2]
Fargo, for me, is one of the best films going ! Steve Buscemi is great as the non stop, small time criminal, who thinks he's up there with the Bad Boys. Peter Stormare is the silent, brooding type of Crim, but, even tho he has a DE-sensitized way to kill, he's just as vulnerable as Steve B, William,H Macy plays a scheming, squirming, bungling car salesman who wants to do better, & has a plan that goes BADLY wrong. I think the wood chipper scene could be said to be iconic now ? You really should watch it Ringo when you can, its great fun

If it's on Netflix I'll watch it this weekend I've been a fan of Steve Buscemi since he appeared in The Sopranos, so that's another reason for me to see it

I liked the Big Lebowski also, I thought Jeff Bridges was just perfect for that role.

I've only seen BL once so don't remember much from it. Will have to watch it again. Meanwhile, my other favorite Coen movie is Raising Arizona.

The shear brilliance of bringing in Sam Elliot as the narrator!
