Re: Future releases [2]
I saw most of the first Thor before boredom and lack of engagement made me switch it off, I unfortunately saw all of Captain America, although that was mainly as I couldn't believe the way plothole was mounted on plot hole, like watching a slow mo car crash.
I saw the first Iron man, well most of it, again found it boring, hated the character hoped he'd lose.
And then I saw Avengers. Which was everything bad about the previous ones Id seen rolled into one messy film.
I really dont see the appeal in this Marvel revival in cinema- a lot of individually bad and forgettable films and one combined bad and forgettable film.
To nick some Shakespeare they were all 'sound and fury signifying nothing.'

Re: Future releases [2]
I watched all 3 Iron Man films, mainly cos I got a thing for Robert Downy Jnr, 1st one was ok, 2nd one ok-ish, 3rd one dire ! I like Marvel fims, even if they are cheesy as hell, but on a scale of boredomness, Spiderman is the pits ! I havnt seen the newer release yet, but Toby McGuire && kirstin Dunst versions were a bore fest. I liked Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk in Avengers Assemble, better than other Hulks ive seen ?

Re: Future releases [2]
I just found the character completely dislikeable, I know he is meant to be but I really couldn't give a toss for him and hoped he'd get his arse handed to him or his suit would explode.
And in Avengers they are all equally dislikeable and unsympathetic characters- its like a gathering of arseholes.

Re: Future releases [2]
Loki knows he needs to use whoever, to gain whatever, so, he does He knows full well everyone is expendable & he lets US know that also. Hes icy cold & calculating, tho I think I see one weakness in him ? he let it slip in Thor 2, only for a second tho. Out of all of them he is the most interesting character, the others are predictable & sugary sweet, And Ive never really liked a character that 'tries' to much for you to like them. Loki doesnt need that, thats one reason I like him.

Re: Future releases [2]
Mmmm, whoever thought to put Matthew Broderick in the lead of Godzilla (1998) ? That was cheesier than the Deli at Sainsbury's. But, it seemed more typically Japanese somehow ? This latest one looks like its trying to moralise & be more serious ? still like the look of it tho I always end up saying heartfully..."leave **** alone !".....whether its King Kong or this one, Godzilla (even tho I know its only make believe )

Re: Future releases [2]
Of the Iron Man films, I only liked the first one, though I have no interest in seeing it again—I thought the 2nd and 3rd were simply awful, particularly the 3rd, probably because it was so widely hyped.
I wasn't entertained by either Hulk film in the least (btw, I understand that the Ang Lee and the "Phase One" film are in the same continuity somehow ).
Thor was not just bad, but somehow chintzy, for lack of a better word. Natalie Portman and Kat Dennings were particularly irritating. And Loki's motivation in this movie was just absurd. I haven't seen the second film yet, but from the trailers, Portman seems just as annoying.
Captain America: TFA was entertaining, at least enough so that I failed to notice any plot holes. In any case, it was better than the 1990 movie Incidentally, The Hobbits' own Richard Armitage has a cameo in the 2012 movie.
I was also entertained by The Avengers, despite the flaws, though I've seen it twice and it was a bit less entertaining the second time. I expect the second film will be entertaining as well, though.

http://shortlist.com/entertainment/films/the-stand-movie-gets-a-director
It's another piece of Stephen King film news - and this time it comes in the shape of a director for the long-awaited remake of The Stand.
The movie is set to be helmed by Josh Boone, a confirmed Stephen King fan, and previously director of The Fault On Our Stars and Stuck In Love - the latter of which featured a cameo from King himself. In addition, it seems it will now be a single movie, rather than split across several installments.
Previous rumours had included Scott Cooper, David Yates and Ben Affleck, but it seems that Boone has got the director's gig. The film will be produced by Roy Lee and Jimmy Miller.
King's The Stand was originally released in 1978, before being rereleased with revisions in 1990. It told the story of a post-apocalyptic battle between good and evil, following the proliferation of a deadly virus, and featured the antichrist figure Randall Flagg. A TV miniseries was made in 1994 starring Molly Ringwald amongst other stars - and again featured a King cameo.

Re: Future releases [2]
I hear it's only going to be one movie. That doesn't sound good. If any book deserves a two movie treatment, it's The Stand.
The miniseries was six hours...and that was pretty mediocre.
(I should clarify that it's mediocre due to a 1990s tv miniseries budget. The length of the series had little to do with its mediocrity.)

Re: Future releases [2]
Mediocre may be being too kind
Network TV is just not the right format for any of King's books. And, yeah, it's too long for one movie. I think it should be done for HBO or Cinemax or any outlet that allows for sex, violence and profanity. And King should just stop it about wanting to reach more viewers. His miniseries version of The Shining was terrible.

Re: Future releases [2]
Holy crap. Someone basically just made a movie out of this copypasta.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/gods_not_dead/
My sides.
Gotta love the Evangelical obsession with the evil atheist professor.
A liberal muslim homosexual ACLU lawyer professor and abortion doctor was teaching a class on Karl Marx, known atheist
”Before the class begins, you must get on your knees and worship Marx and accept that he was the most highly-evolved being the world has ever known, even greater than Jesus Christ!”
At this moment, a brave, patriotic, pro-life Navy SEAL champion who had served 1500 tours of duty and understood the necessity of war and fully supported all military decision made by the United States stood up and held up a rock.
”How old is this rock, pinhead?”
The arrogant professor smirked quite Jewishly and smugly replied “4.6 billion years, you stupid Christian”
”Wrong. It’s been 5,000 years since God created it. If it was 4.6 billion years old and evolution, as you say, is real… then it should be an animal now”
The professor was visibly shaken, and dropped his chalk and copy of Origin of the Species. He stormed out of the room crying those liberal crocodile tears. The same tears liberals cry for the “poor” (who today live in such luxury that most own refrigerators) when they jealously try to claw justly earned wealth from the deserving job creators. There is no doubt that at this point our professor, DeShawn Washington, wished he had pulled himself up by his bootstraps and become more than a sophist liberal professor. He wished so much that he had a gun to shoot himself from embarrassment, but he himself had petitioned against them!
The students applauded and all registered Republican that day and accepted Jesus as their lord and savior. An eagle named “Small Government” flew into the room and perched atop the American Flag and shed a tear on the chalk. The pledge of allegiance was read several times, and God himself showed up and enacted a flat tax rate across the country.
The professor lost his tenure and was fired the next day. He died of the gay plague AIDS and was tossed into the lake of fire for all eternity.
Semper Fi.

Re: Future releases [2]
Thanks to the American Naval Base here I grew up reading Peanuts cartoons, and I saw all the xmas specials too (seemed to be as much a US tv tradition as Who on xmas day is here).
Hard to tell from that how well they have translated any of it.
All I can say is they have made an interesting (as in not sure it works or not yet) choice to include the trademark 'action' lines on the animation.
That might make it feel more like the original drawings but it might also be a bit annoying for whole film.
