There a Floods minister?  Shocked  Guess in the upper house he'd be called a "Flood Lord".

But we have something equivalent: in the National Observatory, located on the grounds of the Vice Presidential Mansion (the grounds are actually more opulent than the White House, as the Veep house was just kind of stuck onto the Observatory grounds) there is a door with single intriguing label:

'Directorate of Time'.

He's in charge of the official atomic clock for the US Government.

I would do anything to get that office.

There are Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish MPs in those pictures, no?  Even if Petty was trying to make some Scotland vs. England comparison, it wouldn't be a very good one.

Um, I wasnt making any sort of England/Scotland comment- just sharing my disgust with MP's in general of all stripes and in how our democracy functions and what it considers important.

Welfare is not a devolved issue anywhere in the UK- its solely dealt with by Westminster. It a UK issue.

Why did you assume Figg I was making any other point?  scratch If I had been making a Scottish/English point Id have put it in the Freedom thread not here. nd I wouldnt have picked a subject that is irrelevant to the devolved powers.

Maybe we expect too much of politicians.

One would hope though that the small number of people in the first picture was because there was little to disagree on. Sadly we know the opposite is more likely.

I expect the least opposed proposal in the Brittish parliment was the MPs pay rise one.

Theoretically I expect a shed load from ministers, thats why they are in the job they are in, to serve the community, to make sure everyone is cared for, looked after & heard. I expect important, serious issues of today to be taken seriously,to obtain a healthy & safe way of living. If my flat is on fire I get a fireman (ooh yeah !) so, with the same dumb ass naivety, I expect Ministers of whatever rank or level to fooking show a bit of fooking interest !! But, we live in a real world of 'nest featherers' & how they Luuuuuuuurv the money, the notoriety, the larger than life itself lifestyle, the benefits & pension schemes (for themselves only, make no mistake) the hobnobbing, travel, oh, the list is boggling ! Guaranteed to make your eyes sparkle & big eyed as tho you've just swallowed "speed", (which some of them have!)

Given how controversial and unfair the new welfare bills have been it does speak volumes that so few had reason to debate the points or even listen to the arguments.

I site the 'Freedom' thread. 50 or so pages of mostly paranoid smearing of mostly English politicians. Its easy to blame others isnt it? those nasty Torys in England. I dont hear you having a go at the Scottish Unionists, thats who you need to convince not the English or the Fyordlandians, we dont get to vote, you do. Its classic Cyber-Nat tactics blaming the..sorry...English government for the woes of the world. try living in Ukraine then you can have a paranoidfest. They really would be all out to get you. Scotland is a relatively wealthy country that just wants to be richer and more in charge of its cash, nowt wrong with that, and i wish you well, but really relatively its laughable to complain too much when you hear of the real hardships a lot of countries are suffering.

I am not the one who divides this into Scottish and English. You are.

"I site the 'Freedom' thread. 50 or so pages of mostly paranoid smearing of mostly English politicians."- Figg

Care to find where I have made these smears of english politicians? Or even mentioned any by name save Cameron? (Who is after all PM so hard to talk about Westminster without mentioning the PM)

All the points I have put on the Freedom thread relate to the political deficit- which I have also stated the north of England suffers from- but I cant do anything about the North of England- I can do something about Scotland by voting for what I believe in.
My dislike of the unfairness inherent at Westminster (the UK parliament- the parliament I have voted to send MP's to all my adult life, the Parliament that has made the laws I have lived under most of my life, my Parliament as much as any other voter in the UK's) has nothing to do with being anti-English.

Where have I ever made a remark that is anti-english? (just accusing me off it doesnt actually count as proof)- the Westminster politicians I currently dislike the most right now are both Scots and leading the No campaign.

For some reason you have developed a belief my views are formed out of a hatred of the English. This could not be further from the truth- I have already pointed out to you that I have close english family members and english ties- I have no dislike of the english people at all. Never have had, never will have.
I do have a problem with how our Government is run from Westminster however. But there is nothing anti-English about that.
Technically the UK Parliament could be in Edinburgh and still be the UK parliament, and Id still think it was unfair.

And the Ukraine thing is a pretty cheap dig given what those people are going through there- would you rather we Scots had not bothered with the ballot box and taken to the streets instead?
I dont see the comparison and you cheapen their plight by making it and cheapen the genuinely held beliefs of Sots who wish for independence through peaceful means.

I just dont see the comparison with what is happening in the Ukraine or what bearing it has on the Scottish referendum and I think drawing the comparison is a cheap debating point, nor do I see how it bolsters your erroneous claim that I hate the english and smear them all the time.

I dont enjoy being wrongly portrayed as hating on anyone.
