I am beginning to suspect that might be the least of that scenes problems!
So when you say you enjoyed the film, you dont actually mean you thought it was a good film, so much as you couldnt stop laughing at how ridiculous and bad a film it was?

Yeah, it's stupid, but it paints a funny picture in my mind. I almost want to see it now if it's as hilarious as I imagine.

The trick, you see, is not to care that you're crabbit.

I think you are another of these CGI-loving English.
Re: In theatres: 'Desolation of Smaug' | SPOILERS
You know what Lawrence of Arabia is, right?
Fake edit: Mrs Figg said The Hobbit would be fun, so I posted a famous scene from the film where Lawrence talks about things he thinks will be fun when most people would disagree.

Re: In theatres: 'Desolation of Smaug' | SPOILERS
EDIT: cross post while Norc was watching the video with sound.
Lawrence of Arabia was famous for "going native" and enjoying being among the Arabs.
In an earlier scene he lights the match and lets it burn down to his fingers. Someone asks: "Doesn't that hurt?" And the response is "The trick is not to care that it hurts."
Later on in the scene Eldo shows, as Lawrence's friend describes the burning hell hole of Arabia that Lawrence looks forward to entering, Lawrence says "it sounds like fun", and lights a match. His friend responds "It's well known you have a funny idea of fun."
So going to see DoS is a funny idea of fun.
