You posted that in the "look, look" thread ages ago.

Just that drink we were talking about.
It looks eerily similar to what's on the tray.

oooooh.... now i get it (i thought we were done talking about that)
no, that in fact is a choctail. thing. he portrays a chocolate factory owner who rapes children and then marries them. that is also the role that landed him the sherlock part. apparently. (they saw atonement and thought "that's our sherlock")

Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
Her confession at the end chokes me, the "what-might-have-beens", yeah, a rendering film

Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
yepp.. i remember the first time i saw it, i think i was too young to really understand all of the plot and the magnitude, but it really got me, the end. can u imagine the first time i watched it, i didn't know who benedict was i am desperately trying to remember what i thought back then, but i cant same about a miss marple episode i saw and two episodes of heartbeat. so strange.. i remember the episodes, but i couldn't remember him
Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
Yeah, I also saw that a good while ago. Having no idea that Benedict Cumberbatch was in it or who he was for that matter. His performance certainly is striking when you see it now.
The ending is rather sad, but also quite poignant when you think about the love story it actually leaves you with. Something quite interesting aboiut dreams and reality there.
And I think I remember the choctail ( ) when you mention it. I just thought, "What, werent we just talking about this?" when I saw it.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
Stephen Moffat wrote:“He’s not a sociopath, nor is he high-functioning. He’d really like to be a sociopath. But he’s so fucking not. The wonderful drama of Sherlock Holmes is that he’s aspiring to this extraordinary standard. He is at root an absolutely ordinary man with a very, very big brain. He’s repressed his emotions, his passions, his desires, in order to make his brain work better — in itself, a very emotional decision, and it does suggest that he must be very emotional if he thinks emotions get in the way. I just think Sherlock Holmes must be bursting!” [X]
Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
I found that Moffat quote quite intriguing. It's an emotional decision to surpress ones emotions to that degree? I think that is a good point.
It also tells you that they probably wrote Sherlock very self contained at the beggining, and then made him more human as the series progressed and he let his guard down around John.
And that he uses the sociopath thing as an excuse to get away with stuff.
Also it's strange how well Gatiss fits in in that picture, isn't it?

Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
I was going to say, I don't think I've seen that many other Cumberbatch movies. Except Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which I liked.
Did you say a couple of his movies had gotten Oscar nominations this year somewhere earlier?

They do?
Well, parody is after all the sincerest form of flattery.
Jonathan Creek can be quite good actually. Though it's more of a comedy than a straight forward detective mystery series. Have you watched it?

Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
Thank you for the feedback on the movies. I might look them up.
Yeah, they're not his nominations, but at least it shows him off as having picked some rather good projects to spend his time on in 2013. That must be quite hard when you're as in demand as he must be. Or to let him say so in his own words.

Re: Sherlock - BBC [3]
Yeah, I know.
They have done 4 series already and a couple of specials. I used to watch it. a bit
It's quite a good. He even lives in a windmill at the beggining. Now, how can you not love someone who lives in a windmill.
Sherlock parody will be interesting.
