Re: Music [2]
haha,me neither. to.. idk.. fluff. and it's really boring music to play, especially the first violins, dunno about the others, the viola has lots of melody for a change thoguh but the music is way too repeptitive and blurgh. give me romanza by Johan Svendsen and Edvard Grieg (even though it's a bit pompous at times), Vivaldi, Bach and Beethoven Sivbelius thank you very much and a bit og Gustav Holst
(this is one of my favourite of Holst, but i think he did the planets-thing too... , this is however a really fun piece to play, even the viola part (which is good, because that's the one i played))

Re: Music [2]
You should play some Brahms. This is what I'm currently working on, lots of fun to play.

Re: Music [2]
oooh, what on earth is that piano right? I sort of know Brahms, does he have any good solo violin pieces?
this is the only thing i've played by him, but it was in the chamber orchestra and i played viola. it was something we were known for doing particularly well we were average two in each part (1,2 violin, viola, one on cello and one on the bass part but played on a cello). it's a very fun and fierce piece to play.
i like Brahms, lot of attitude

Re: Music [2]
also when one is a very small party of musician playing a piece of music, duet, trio, quartet and even a small chamber orchestra, all the different parts come really clearly through and you are really forced to play outwards and not "hide" behind others.
Re: Music [2]
The Hungarian Dances are a lot of fun.
He has a great violin concerto, and a few violin sonatas.

Yeah, I was so used to playing piano and solo and playing out, and then when I did more chamber music I thought, "Oh, good I can kind of hide." lol nope

Re: Music [2]
if you're many on one part one can hide, but i expect since you're playing piano and that kinda breaks through whatever you do
i'll take a look at that concerto later, my mom's watching something on the telly and it would just annoy her she doesn't understand classical music..
i am currently working on Bach's violin sonata no. 1, it's hard work and i'm sort of halfway, but GOD it is difficult...

Re: Music [2]
haha, fuck no. that one is crazy. i tried. nope. no. nope. but it is a really nice piece. i came to the third of fifth line and was like nope my dad played it ones, i have no idea how he did it he was young and still had a teacher aka. before my time.
it has like two different melodies you have to play, one on top and one on the bottom. it's crazy.

Re: Music [2]
Yeah Holst did the planets suite- and then John Williams made a career out of ripping it off!

really? i know there are lots of classical themes one can find in modern day film music, but i won't say it's "ripping them off". it is very common to write whole concert inspired by e.g Händel.
Re: Music [2]
Lets just say there are a remarkable amount of similarities then.
