There was a pianist who lost his right arm in WWI (Paul Wittgenstein), so he commissioned all of these pieces for left hand only. They're fucking hard as shit, and I've never even bothered because I think I would break my left hand.

we, that makes sense, but why would you if you had two arms play it?bungobaggins wrote:Norc wrote:why, why would one do that it's just showing off...

Re: Music [2]
that's impossible... my feelings toward fuga I. exactly... i tried and the beginning is fine but it's like seven pages and they just get worse...but it is a beautiful piece.
Re: Music [2]
Enjoying listening to Franz Ferdinand's debut album and magically becoming nine years old again. It holds up pretty well on its own merits too, though.

Re: Music [2]
Just saw the Chicago Symphony Orchestra play the score if ROTK with the film in the background (I've seen the previous two before, they were great!) and I fell in love with the movie again simply because of how magnificent the music was! And people were cheering at certain parts too, which made it more fun (except when they cheered when Gandalf beat Denethor with his staff...I just rolled my eyes at that one). The music is the soul of these films, not the actors. You learn more about each character and culture through their themes than their dialogue.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I wonder if MN Orch will ever do something like that. I sure hope so, would love to go.

Re: Music [2]
Is there any website where I can keep track of these "concerts"? I'd love to go as well, but it's not likely to happen here in Norway, so I'm probably looking at airplane tickets and a hotel if I want to go, so the sooner I know, the cheaper it'll be.

A shame - thanks for researching, though!
From one thing to another - heard this on Scrubs. Great song

That one's not fair. You've got this perfect, gorgeously symmetrical piano babe, and you make her play with one hand like a party game. I think both hands should be allowed when playing the left hand repertoire.

If anyone likes a bit of rock and fucking roll, Slash has just released his new album. Best music I have heard in quite a while.
Re: Music [2]
All well and good, Lance, but what the fuck happened to "Siege"???

There are a few songs on there that I cant believe Slash is actually playing on. Might not be groundbreaking music but definitely something new for him.
