Humhum, partly because I've had some buckie and partly because I'm interested in hearing how this song sounds to English-speaking folk, I'll post this classic Norwegian buckie song!

The lyrics are great Very Happy If ytou can understand them, that is!

Not a bloody word! drunken Didn't stop me singing along though. Very Happy drunken Lucky I'm a Scotshobbit and all my neighbours are also drunk on buckie and singing, so no one minds, though I think I'm the only one deliberately trying to sing in another language. drunken

Try this for size, a Scots Nordic collaboration!! drunken

Thought you were a Beatles fan?- Ringdrotten

Fair point! But the Beatles get away with it by doing Sergeant Pepper etc and proving not just that they had more than 4 cords but they could reinvent the entire production process of a song! But in general most modern pop hasn't come very far since then.

Great song!

But I think modern pop music has moved on, in terms of the artists and style, but is still good. For me, and the average listener we don't like the song solely because of it's production values we enjoy it because it entertains us. Whoever it is, whether it be Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Paul Mccartney (who I love btw.)

I can play the guitar and piano at a reasonable level, but I can't write a four-chord song that would effect people on a personal level, and there aren't many people in the world who can. Artists like Lady Gaga & Katy Perry can write pop songs that are liked by people, and while the basic principle of pop music hasn't changed- to entertain- artists like these know what we as society like to hear, whatever the minority say!

Suprised you've never mentioned this Ringdrotten- just watched it- Troll Hunter- Norwegian film about , well hunting trolls- nice to see proper trolls in it too! Apart froom scale i could easily see these trolls sitting round a fire trying to decide how to cook 13 dwarves and a burrohobbit.

I was aware that it had gotten some attention abroad, but never really thought about mentioning it here for some reason scratch The trolls in that film look almost exactly like the trolls that are depicted in Norwegian folk lore/tales. The trolls in those tales can talk too, so I when I read the Hobbit for the first time I pictured the trolls Bilbo and the dwarves meet like the trolls you see in that film. I pictured them much smaller than the traditional trolls of the old folktales (or that film), though - I reckon Bilbo'd have a hard time climbing into the pocket of one of those! Like you said, scale them down a little and I'd love to see them in the Hobbit Very Happy

Just rewatched Cronenbergs take on Burroughs Naked Lunch. A book thats impossible to film turned into a film thats not like the book but somehow stills feel like it. Weird!
Warning-like all Cronenberg its disturbing on all sorts of levels.
