Default setup will be A4. Just make sure your font isnt too big or small. Size 10-12 is about average.

Try doing 'preview' first. You might have your margins goofed up.

yes, word documents are A4, although i can change it, but most likely, if u haven't changed it, it is in A4Mrs Figg wrote:cool. 15 pages seems about right. thanks. :thumb:are computer pages the same size as A4? like a Word document page. would 6000 words still be 15 pages?

I don't know, Eldo. I'm beginning to question everything I ever understood over this A4 business.

How odd, I thought everyone used A4, much like everyone wears shoes (okay, perhaps jungle people don't wear shoes, but they probably don't care much about sheet sizes either ) One learns something new every dayEldorion wrote:We don't use A4 in the US, but I checked a few sites via Google and it seems like the average is about 400 words per page for A4, so that would be 15 pages. We've dragged Canada down with us into our primitive A4-less backwater!

Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [4]
The standard 8.5 x 11 inch paper is so common for us we can't imagine anyone in the world would use something different. It's slightly wider and slightly shorter than A4.

A4 is easier to say and so wins. You can even ask it for drunk.

We call it "letter". Very easy to remember, unlike, say, A4.

Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [4]
Thats just bloody typically American, youve confused the paper a letter is written on with the thing itself
And in our system if you want different sizes of paper you just change the number, like A1. Much easier to remember when drunk than complete words.

Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [4]
typing paper comes in Letter and Legal, that's it. You probably have to remember what each size means - for us it's just normal or a bit longer.
Also large and small postcard sizes.

Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [4]
Halfy is right, but the legal size paper is basicallynever used outside of the legal and business professions, and even there it's falling out of favor. We're pretty much all 8.5 x 11 here. So in a way, it's actually even simpler than in the rest of the world, because for all intents and purposes we have only one paper size.
Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [4]
So what happens if you need a bigger bit, say to do a poster on? (That'd be A1)
I found a pic of the proper sizes, with your US ones superimposed like an out of place childs drawing on top-

Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [4]
Then you'd go to a professional print shop to get all the specialist stuff, but we're talking about typing paper. I don't have to have seen a UK printer to know that you guys don't actually type on those monstrous A1 sheets, nor would the average person have the means to print one.
And I notice your casual slur of "US sizes" despite the fact that the US is one of several countries that uses the 8.5 x 11 standard.

My printer goes up to A3.
When I was doing graphic design I regularly bought A1.

Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [4]
Sometimes I've printed stuff out on multiple sheets and then taped them together on a posterboard. It's an imperfect system and I'm not pretending that 8.5 x 11 was handed down by the gods or anything, but it gets the job done. Sometimes I get sick of the Euros (on here and elsewhere) who feel the need to rag on all the little differences. Same shit as the whole football thing.
And if you were working in graphic design I think you fell under the category of (working with) professional printing stuff.

Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [4]
I actually have a lot of respect for the whole standardization movement and the spirit of rationality that stuff like the paper size system, the metric system, and whatnot were devised in during the French Revolution. But people who use it as an excuse for nationalistic dick-waving make me (momentarily) glad the US doesn't use that stuff.
