You should have been there when I got into an argument over football on another forum a few days ago. Association football fans who think they have a monopoly on the word "football" wind me up way more than paper sizes ever will.

Yes but none of those count as they made their games up afterwards and then couldnt be bothered thinking of their own name for their invented games (especially the OZhobbits, too busy having barbies  ) its lazy and unnecessary confusing.

I'm actually quite fascinated by the infinite spiral system of European paper: ratios of top to side is always close to the square root of two, and subsequent paper sizes progress by the same root of two.

I've only seen this done with the Golden Ratio, didn't realize it could be done with another ratio. I guess the difference is that with the golden ratio you keep ending up with a square.

Tried working it out with a 2 to 1 ratio, turns out you can't do this with any ratio! Quite fascinating.

so are margins are different too?

Just do a preview before you print. It's part of the print process. if the preview looks good then your printer is messed up.

Petty whats the name of that level mask technique thing that you taught me that helps you change backgrounds and stuff? I cant find the youtube video that helped me last time.  

Depending on what you want to do you might not need to use a mask.
If you just want to cut something out and put it on a different backdrop use the selection tool to draw round it then copy selected. Go to the background pic you want to use, paste selected, and then position it where you want it and paste it down.

ok. how do you position it? If I put one photo over another the top one wont move around over the background, say if I need to position it . I tried the hand icon but it moves both together, not the top layer.  

You need to use the move tool. Are you using GIMP or photoshop?
