That dosen't help me very much as I'm using a 3g Dongle so I can only watch 40/80 minutes of video a month.

An Adventure in Space and Time- spoilery review-
- Spoiler:
- This docudrama covering the inception and early years of Doctor Who is very much a love letter to the show.
Dont expect a hard cold look at the politics of the time, or the the darker sides to any of the people involved- this is somewhere between nostalgia and fact.
But what it does have is a huge amount of warmth and affection, and this is conveyed no better than through the performance of Bradley as the often cantankerous William Hartnell.
In fact this is very much his story, from out of work actor sick at being type cast as the hard man or a sergeant major to the man who illness robbed of his ability to continue doing the show he came to love and a part he came to embody.
The other side to the story is about the two outsiders who were breaking all conventions at the BBC by being the first woman to be put in charge of a drama program, Verity Lambert, and the first Indian director, Waris Hussein, or the 'posh wog and the pushy jewish bird' as they call themselves.
Between these three characters the tale is woven.
And it works very well, covering the initial ideas, the casting, the problems in production and with those above who demanded no bug eyed monsters and tried to stop the Dalek episodes from happening, there are brief nods to the ground breaking theme tune artists at the Radiophonic workshop and the techniques used to create the state of the art at the time opening sequence.
But the heart of the piece is the story of William Hartnell and Bradley nails the role, from his crabbit to his generousity of spirit.
And heartbreakingly to his illness that saw him forgetting his lines and becoming increasingly tired and confused until the decision was taken to replace him.
Its very much a story focusing on the impact emotionally of the show, both on those who created it and on the audience who watched it.
And whilst it is in the docudrama style it is not without some touches of pure fantasy- given it covers a time period of many years the TARDIS itself is used as the visual device between them, with her going into flight and the date on her console ticking over to the next relevant year in the story.
And the biggest flight of fantasy of all is saved for the ending, and whilst it is pure fantasy its also both poignant and very beautiful, as Hartnell, playing out his final scene as the Doctor stands at the TARDIS console as the director shouts action. And as he stands there, seemingly wrapped in his own thoughts of what this final moment means to him he looks up across the console and sees the 11th Doctor standing there.
Its as delightful as it is unexpected. There is no dialogue, just a shared knowing look of understanding and a huge nod to what Hartnell began with his portrayal of the Doctor.
For Who fans this comes with full recommendation, for those just wanting to watch a drama set in the world of 1960's British tv it may be too rose tinted and to full of fondness.
But it rather nice to watch a drama that is rejoicing in something and those who created it without a cynical bone in its body.

I finished series 7 last night. There's a lot to think about.
I tried the River edit, but somehow when I tried to synch the sound partway through I got even farther out of synch and eventually I just gave up on it. I'll try later. I do want to see it to see if what I think I remember is close to the facts.

Its in the minus figures David so you are looking at going down the way to about -0.004s to synch it- and it goes out of synch badly roughly about the scene where Amy gets contractions and is rushed inside the TARDIS

In general I enjoyed it, but with some reservations, particularly the memory theme and the excessively "politically correct" writing and casting. Both are fun in moderation, but one gets the feeling of being bludgeoned with them. I would actually like the leaf motif if it hadn't been used to kill a carnivorous planet in "Rings of A". That was a ridiculous ending to an otherwise fun episode.
I like the concept of throwing Clara and the Doctor back into his timeline. That's new and has interesting potential. The final scene with Clara, River and the Dr was a bit melodramatic, but in a satisfying kind of way I thought. Sort of like a well played opera. Campy is not a bad thing in Dr Who.
