Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
She was trying to fix the part from her forehead to her hair beret, and I think it's a pretty impressive job. Though like Norc I think the more saturated colors look better. she does seem to have a chunk missing above her ear, but can be fixed.

Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
there is nothing behind her ear that is missing! ok. two sec and i'll prove that too. it just looks odd because of the hair being all flowy and ears really big. two sec.
Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
I was talking about the chunk missing in Figg's effort. Your is fine but you oversaturated.

Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
is this proof enough that she is not missing the back of her head?
Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
She isn't in yours, she was in Figgy's.
Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
i just felt the need to saturate and add some insta-filters because the original was so gritty.
Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
The color was perfect in the original. Why you two young ladies felt the need to muck around with that part I'll never know.

Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
The head issue on Figgs looks like clone brush result- Mrs Figg try reducing the size of the clone brush so you are copying smaller areas, that prevents the repetition of patterns being too obvious, and you might want to use a very light touch on the smudge tool at the edges where the clone brushes meet, just to smooth out joins.
But I thought it was a pretty good attempt.
But Figgs and Norcs, doesnt stop her looking like she is made of plastic to me.

Now if you can just stop her looking like she is an exhibit at Madame Tussauds.

Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
Interesting stuff in the spoiler. The most detailed account of that is in UT, so I'm curious to see just how much they borrow from that given the legal issues. Based on the fan event, they're already lifting stuff from UT, with the whole Sindarin vs. Silvan tension in Thranduil and Tauriel's conversation.bungobaggins wrote:
And confirmation that there will be a flashback
- Spoiler:
that shows Gandalf meeting Thorin in Bree.
That can be read on this page.
Ouch. This isn't a new photo, but I thought it was symbolic of the way these movies were being written.
Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
I was wondering about the meeting at Bree too- I think its mentioned in the appendices somewhere but without any details- I am pretty sure all the details of what happens are in UT.
The Tolkien estate will be watching this very closely I suspect.

Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
There's a little bit of dialogue from that scene in Appendix A (one of the few instances of any dialogue in that Appendix, which is mostly written in a rather dry historical style), but the version in Unfinished Tales is considerably more fleshed out.
I am curious to see if the Tolkien Estate will want to make any legal moves over comparatively small borrowing like this. There is a bit of a grey area concerning stuff that is mentioned in TH and LOTR but elaborated on elsewhere.

Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
I'm pretty certain the fact that the other two wizards were blue was only mentioned in UFT and The Peoples of M.E, but the Tolkien estate didn't bother about that, so I guess if the films are referencing indirectly they can get away with it...sure it's being sneaky, but at least it is more Tolkien on screen...well kind of anyway.Eldorion wrote:There's a little bit of dialogue from that scene in Appendix A (one of the few instances of any dialogue in that Appendix, which is mostly written in a rather dry historical style), but the version in Unfinished Tales is considerably more fleshed out.
