I think its a film that gets more shocking as time goes by- attitudes were different in the 70's.

Bit like Bugsy Malone- can you imagine trying to pitch that today? Shocked

Not sure Bugsy Malone was a good idea even then...
Taxi Driver was still disturbing the last time I saw it. A great movie but I'm not sure when I'll need to see it again. I've often wondered how much affect it's had on romanticizing modern gun violence.

With the death scenes in Godfather, bear in mind that the ratings wars were being fought right at that time. Certain types of violence would get a movie an X rating and most theaters wouldn't carry it. I think Godfather pushed the limit as far as it could at the time, and definitely opened the door for Scorsese and those guys.

Only good thing about Bugsy Malone is it gave me one of my favourite lines in political satire In the loop- when the British civil servants discuss their US counterparts- "Theyre all kids in Washington. Its like Bugsy Malone over there, only with real guns" Very Happy

Taxi Driver set a bar for film violence that I havent seen equalled in terms of casual violence not the amount or the intensity. I think Rains of Castamere has set the bar for tv violence.

I still cant get a particular scene outa my head from the film " American History X" with Edward Norton. he plays a skinhead and the leader of a violent white supremacist gang that committed acts of racial crime. Ive watched "Saw" & other yuky films but this one scene in "AHX" left me cold.

Well worth a watch Eldo- a heady mix of humour, satire, scifi and violence (especially the directors cut) with more than a nod to Judge Dredd (but especially Robocop 2 written by one of the leading Dredd writers for the comics, but 1 is the superior film)

that "robocop" was brilliantly put together ! Id love to see one done for LOTRs. Cant do one for The Hobbit as its a joke in its self, you wouldnt need to add anything !

Got free movie channels on Foxtel for a week or so. Watched Expandable's 2 a film i wouldn't normally watch,
but it was fun seeing which old actor was going to turn up next. Makeup artists must have been busy.
Chuck Norris is over 70 looked about 38. Stallone has had that many face lifts he can't grow facial hair, he trims his pubic hair. lol

Despicable Me is fun. The second is quite good too.

Most of the Universal and Pixar films are funny. We like Cars!

I've heard mixed reviews of the second but I'd like to see it. I might wait until it's on DVD and/or Amazon Instant though.
