In some ways!

Re: Not so crabbit now! [2]
That's annoying.
36 year old woman pulled over, asked where she got the vehicle she's driving. She said it's borrowed from a friend. They told her it was reported as stolen and informed her she's going to jail. She bursts into tears saying she didn't steal it as they handcuff her and put her in passenger seat of the police car. As they are talking outside she slips out of her handcuffs, locks the doors and shimmies into the driver's seat.
One cop to the other: "What's she doing?"
Other cop: "She's stealing your car."
They must have been from two different vehicles because what follows is a 90 mph car chase that ends when she pulls into an apartment complex and runs out. They chase and capture her, at which she tearfully exclaims "you told me I was going to jail for something I didn't do, well now I'm going for something I DID do."
She's got pluck, gotta give her that.

Nice to see an American version My son still hasn't got the hang of English "wordism" yet The odd thing I say on a daily basis, that is recognisable by anyone else, is still a mystery to him

Re: Not so crabbit now! [2]
{{There is something in particular about the generation of writers, performers and comedians between the 1950's and the 80's I love. There is a pure joy in the English language, its ridiculousness, its fun, the sounds themselves and the ways you can mess with meanings.
Stuff like Ronnie Barkers Mispronunciation of words sketch-
Or even the playfulness and the satirising of the use of language in Yes, Minister-
Someone like Kenneth Williams I could just listen rattle on to for ages, he enthuses such a joy in the words themselves and conventions that surround them and subverting them. And like many of that generation of entertainers he pulled himself form a harsh working class background so intellectualism for him was a playground to discover. I often find with that generation there is a fascination with their craft itself too, with understanding it which always yields interesting insights.
And of course he was always unique and daring. Heres Julian and Sandy from the BBC Radio comedy sketch show Round the Horne. Th epremis eof the show is that Horne is the name of the shows host/presenter/narrator around which varies characters swirl, with favourite recurring ones every episode.
Julian and Sandy being among the most popular. They were a comedy gay couple in a mass audience radio show, that brilliantly and subversively was broadcast at lunchtime on a Sunday at a time in the UK when being openly homosexual was punishable with imprisonment. Also of note is that in keeping with the fun with words motif much of the phrases they used were a slang of the time common in the gay community as a means for gay men to recognise and converse with each other in public places without giving away their sexual orientation. One of the genius things about Julian and Sandy is that boith got away with a hell of a lot because the BBC execs didn't know what they were saying, and secondly as nothing could be said openly, either for broadcasting law reasons and because you couldn't in real life either they get away with so much more by suggestion and innuendo.
The premise with the Julian and Sandy sketches is that every week they have some new scheme or business they are running or involved in which Mr Horne will wander into.
and can't help but end on a song, another of Williams ballads in the guise of traditional English country-song bard, Rambling Syd Rump, The Ballad of the Woggler's Moulie- }}

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/korean-soccer-team-hit-with-record-fine-over-placing-sex-dolls-in-stands-195721079.html
What I like is that the league tried to let the team off with the excuse that they mistakenly ordered sex dolls instead of mannikens, but when the team couldn't bring themselves to remove them they finally broke down and fined them. They also had to dig up the rule about advertising because apparently this situation wasn't in the books.
