I like that kind of humour. Its cruel but, they were up for it & you could see they were trying not to laugh themselves. Reminds me of another comedy, a UK one......

{{{ I think comedy is one of the best vehicles for exploring social issues- especially relationship ones- whether that's marriage or racism.
Whilst I wouldn't want such a show now, in its time it was not only valid and topical it was useful in the UK at breaking down those social barriers and lack of understanding- I'd class Ain't Half Hot Mum, Alf Garnett, Rising Damp and even Steptoe and Son as all falling into that category of exploring socially difficult, awkward or taboo subjects head on. In a way straight drama cant approach or touch.
Talking comedy and social subjects- this one cracked me up- ps let me know if you need a translator! }}}

Re: Not so crabbit now! [2]
I sometimes wonder what the police think about the portrayal they are getting ? One of them must see these skits ? This is obviously a send up but, it does reflect the situation of the day. Its amazing what you can get away with by using comedy. Give it to the audience straight & there will be write ups & complaints before the show's finished ! Down here in 'softie South Land' there's pretty much zilch respect for the old Bill. And I don't envy their job or even want a part of it.

Totally random but I was looking at the memberlist just now and noticed bungo's (new, I think) entry in the "humor" category and I want to make note my appreciation of it.
Re: Not so crabbit now! [2]
What kind of order is that list in? It makes no sense.

If you clicked the memberlist link in the forum header, it's arranged in order of most recent visit, with the exception of people who have changed their preferences to hide their online status. People who have done so appear at the end of the list when it is sorted in that fashion.

Is that a comment on how boring it's been around here? No weddings, no fisticuffs in the Who thread, no sturm und drang about movies...

Re: Not so crabbit now! [2]
It appears to be the conclusion of an extended family argument that was resolved through mutual drunkenness, which is quite fitting for Forumshire, I suppose.

That's a fun take on the old Monty Python skit. What kind of event is this?

And now there was nothing but the roofs of houses, sweeping along like a great torrent of stones and rocks. Chimney-pots fell, and tiles flew from the roofs..."

It has been a bit quiet here recently as well, it's been far too long since a crabbit bust up between Petty and Figgs, or a random bounce-a-thon norcing...

Re: Not so crabbit now! [2]
The main thing to learn is that the inevitable first big argument is not the end. A real relationship takes tenacity and acceptance. There's a Friends episode about that...."welcome to your first adult relationship." It's a revelation to discover your better half has no intention of getting rid of you after something like that.
