Orwell wrote:Good points:

(1) Mrs Figg is angry with Petty (the natural state of Forumshiran Affairs - which is a relief as hinted at in my earlier post here)

(2) Lance's Thread is getting norced (and possibly purely by accident, which makes the norcing all the more sweet, methinks)

(3) Ally has said something that might almost be sensible (a revelation - and you think you know someone!)

(4) Petty is in Full Rearguard Action Mode (and Guilty as Charged even if he's Innocent - perfik!)

Hurrah! cheers

Azriel that is exactly the sort of comment I have heard ladies over a certain age make all my life and which I was trying to reflect in my story as part of a character arc-aging is something we all have to deal with and best to do so I think with humour..

why dont you make the same comments about yourself then? its easy making fun out of other peoples weaknesses but not so easy to take it. I see its easy for you to dish out the judgement. when you say its better to deal with aging with humour its true, if one is talking for oneself, you have absolutely no right to comment on others without their consent.

Erm, he does comment on himself. As a drunken, ugly, miserable and failing old scotshobbit. I doubt it is that bad in real life.

Besides. No one knew this was idk, closer to u and not that easy to joke about.. Petty should say sorry for accidently offending u, although.. I dunno. Maybe i should stay out of this argument..

Yup I comment on myself all the time in derogatory and unpleasant ways for humour.
I live in a filthy barrel stinking of buxkie, when I dont fall face down in some pig slurry at Farmer Daves on the way home form the muck n'duck. I described my voice as sounding like gravel being poured through a grating, and my face as being like a constipated dogs arse- and those last two are just from one story.
And if you read the Home story, which is in part autobiographical, sometimes I talk about myself in very honest ways.

It has never once occured to me Azriel that anyone on here didnt make such comments in good humour.
Forumshire operates on that principle.
So do feel free to keep taking the mick!

Post by Mrs Figg Sat Jul 06, 2013 7:05 pm

well I fucking mind. I mind very much. I minded when I was a teenager and got groped on the bus, I minded when I was in my twenties and some dickhead tried to control what I wore and tried unsucessfully to control me. I minded when I was treated like an airhead by an employer, and I minded when he made blonde jokes and stroked my leg whenever he could. I mind that Mary Beard was ripped apart by internet trolls for being 58 and not wearing makeup and having the audacity to have long grey hair, I mind about having to conform to some stereotype, I mind that the magazines tell us if we dont look like 15 year old underwear models we aint gonna get a man, I mind being constantly judged about what I am wearing and my appearance, and if my shoes are expensive or not. I mind being treated differently from the same person if one day I have makup and heels on and another day a gardening jumper. I am fucking sick of not being seen as a person but a recepticle for other peoples jealousies and shortcomings. pardon me for being a bitch.

Yes but I didnt write any of those thing-I didnt troll a historian for her appearance- I really like her and watched all her progs. I didnt grope you on a bus, or treat you badly for your hair colour- I didnt do any of those things- and I dont think I deserve all your accumulated ill experiences dumped on my head as if Im to blame for it all.

Im sorry you had those experience Mrs Figg- but they are nothing to do with me, or what I wrote.

Love it Mrs fIgg ! you are getting it all of your chest ! & in all honesty, (cos I do really like you!) I hope you feel a bit better ? I agree with everything youve just said. There is to much picky picky picky going on, We all know people in the world just like the ones you described, Ive met them, I married one, but it made me tough up. You dish out shit to me well, you better take cover cos theres a shit storm coming ! Stand tall & firm, take no shit & have them at their own game,on your terms. Thats REAL life, but, I cant help but feel, that here, with this bunch of highly commendable loonies ! its a family, its a fun place, its actually were we can bare our soul, cos we know & feel others will understand, more so than the shits we socialise in our daily life. ? I may not have been a member that long but, you lot have ? youve all been friends this long havnt you ? Kissing
