The green filter also conveys melancholy well.
And it makes Lothlorien feel somewhat unnatural- which is a reflection of a truth in the book, it is unnatural, time is dammed there, Galadriel has used her eleven ring to recreate in the mortal world something like a pocket of the Undying Lands from where she is forever barred.
Its not a naturally existing place, and without her it is gone- the green light conveys that subtext seeing as PJ doesn't bother to mention any of it.

The sickly green looks like a horror film. Its not pleasant at night, its Hammer Horror, blue is more natural and starlit. nobody uses green night unless its to convey a spooky atmosphere, its just not done. its unearthly but not in a good way.
